SNOW-COVERED AGOURA WATERFALLS, SOCHI

This is quite a rare sight. For Sochi, snowfalls are usually tantamount to a natural disaster.

Agoura Falls is a cascade of waterfalls on the Agoura River in the Khostinsky district of Sochi. They are 4 km away from the Black Sea coast.

The Lower Agoura Waterfall consists of two cascades: the lower one is 18 meters high, and the upper one is 12 meters high. There is a wide and deep pool of blue water under it. The Devil's Burrow canyon is approximately 1.5 km away from the Lower waterfall.

Behind the first waterfall, there is a series of stairs and acclivities which in 500 meters lead up to the Middle Agoura waterfall – a 23-meter-high waterfall, and then to the Upper waterfall which is 21-meter high. In the vicinity of the Upper waterfall, to the left of the trail, there are rocks called Eagle rocks.

🇷🇺🌏 Russia is renowned for its vast and diverse landscapes, ranging from frozen tundras to lush forests. The country's extensive territories and varied climates significantly contribute to its rich biodiversity.

🇷🇺 In total, Russia has 238 federally protected natural areas, including 107 state nature reserves, 68 national parks, and 63 federal wildlife sanctuaries. Additionally, there are over 12,000 regional territories of various categories. Together, these protected areas encompass about 12% of Russia's total land area.

🔥 On January 11, 2024, the Russian presidential website launched an exciting new project dedicated to Russian nature reserves and other specially protected natural areas. This project features thousands of wildlife camera trap recordings and professional photographs from 39 nature reserves (and counting).

🌏 Available at NATURE.KREMLIN.RU, this initiative is a collaborative effort with the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and will be regularly updated with new content.

🌏🇷🇺 Merchant Proskuryakov’s summer house. Skhodnya, Moscow region

Back in the second half of the XIX century, the house you see on the photos was meant to be a dacha, that is, an out-of-town retreat for rest from the hustle and bustle of the already then rather big Moscow. In those times a thick forest surrounded the dacha. Indeed, what can compare with a vacation in a comfortable house in the middle of the forest? But times change, and now there are other houses around, there is a modern railway line two kilometers away, and right above the dacha there is an air corridor leading to Sheremetyevo International Airport, which is about ten kilometers away. This is how modern technology is changing our lives.

✍️ "...They need a Russia with a dwindling population.... They need a Russia without will... They need a Russia dismembered, agreeing to dismemberment by its own naive "freedom-loving" and seeing disintegration as its "blessing".... But they do not need a united Russia."

«Grand Maket Russia: A Miniature Life of a Nation"

The "Grand Maket Russia" museum was inaugurated on June 8, 2012. This project is the brainchild of businessman Sergei Morozov. Spanning an impressive 800 square meters, it holds the title of the world's largest model of Russia and ranks as the second largest in the world after Hamburg's Miniatur Wunderland. The exhibit offers an artistic interpretation of Russia's image.

Over 150 specialists dedicated five years of relentless work, day and night, to bring this vision to life. Unlike traditional model railways focused solely on technical precision, the "Grand Maket Russia" vividly depicts the country's daily life: transportation, industry, everyday scenes of its inhabitants, and natural landscapes.

The movement of trains and cars injects dynamism into the display, while various scenes featuring figurines and movable objects can be activated by visitors, creating an interactive experience. More than 200 trains traverse a railway network approximately 2,500 meters long, transforming the model into a living, breathing organism.

For the first time in the world of modeling, electromagnetic induction has been employed as a power source for miniature vehicles, showcasing technological innovation. Dozens of cars of various models impress with the complexity and uniqueness of their movements. Their headlights, brake lights, and turn signals can be turned on at will, enhancing the scene's liveliness, especially at night.

Every fifteen minutes, the model transitions into night, with a gradual sunset from east to west, illuminated by nearly 800,000 LEDs. This spectacular lighting display creates an unforgettable visitor experience, blending artistry and technological mastery into a miniature world that truly captures the essence of Russia.
