Beauty Will Save the World

Take a pause and enjoy the views of the Orenburg Region.

Music:
A.A. Alyabyev - String Quartet No. 3 in G Major_IV. Finale: Allegro

Performed by the Beethoven Quartet

The "golden age" for the city and its music scene is considered to be the years when Vasily Alexeevich Perovsky was governor. He led the Orenburg province on two separate occasions (from 1833 to 1842 and from 1851 to 1857), a period when it grew into a powerful and prosperous region.

A major event during Perovsky's tenure was the stay of the renowned Russian composer A. Alyabyev, author of the world-famous romance "The Nightingale." During his years of exile in the region (1833–1835), he composed over 30 works in various genres. These included choral pieces ("God Save the Tsar," "Sun of the World, You Have Risen"), chamber music (an A minor trio, a violin sonata, and a cello sonata), and romances ("Tender Excitement of Friendship," "The Pilgrim," "Open the Gates, Baron"). By taking an active role in Orenburg's cultural life, Alyabyev laid the foundation for professional music in the region. This legacy was later carried on by the illustrious Fedotov-Rostropovich family.

Types of Moving Toys

1️⃣ Push toys
These are toys that move when pushed or pulled along the floor. They are usually simple wooden or plastic figures with handles or wheels, allowing a child to roll them across the floor. They often depict animals, people, or vehicles.

2️⃣ Spinning toys (a spinning top)
Spinning toys create movement through rotation. There is a spinning top that is spun by fingers or a cord, and there’s another type of a spinning top that rotates on a pointed axis, creating a spinning effect and spectacular balance. These toys help develop a child's sense of balance and motor skills.

3️⃣ Rocking toys (a rocking horse, roly-poly, rocking doll)
These toys rock back and forth, returning to their original position. Roly-polies are often made in the shape of a person or animal, and rocking horses or other animals are designed for sitting and rocking. They teach children to maintain balance and improve coordination.

4️⃣ Climbing/crawling and tumbling toys (clown-climber, balls, rollers)
These toys move by themselves or with the help of a mechanism, sometimes flipping over or crawling on the floor. Their purpose is to stimulate activity, develop motor skills, and foster imagination.

5️⃣ Walking toys (walking dolls, a jumping squirrel)
These toys take steps or jump when moved. For example, they may sing or move, imitating the walking of a person or animal. They help children understand principles of movement and develop agility.

All these toys share the common feature of transmitting movement and balance, which is why they are called dynamic toys. They aid in developing a young child's sense of balance, motor skills, and understanding of motion mechanics.

Dividers
Dividers are a special type of toy consisting of several parallel horizontal bars connected by pins, which act as axles. Usually, figures of soldiers, riders, Red Army soldiers, animals with shepherds, geese with sticks, or other characters are attached to these bars.

Depending on how these bars are arranged and connected—whether alternately or simultaneously—the nature of the movement and the structure of the figures change. If the bars are spread apart, the figures unexpectedly form a semicircle or line up in rows; if they are connected closely, they form a tight formation or a herd. These toys help children understand grouping principles, coordination of movements, and develop fine motor skills and spatial thinking.

Additionally, these toys were used in folk games and educational performances. Modern equivalents can be made from plastic or metal, maintaining their educational and entertainment functions.

🌏🇷🇺 Light columns have come to St. Petersburg again:

The cause of this unique natural phenomenon was severe frost, windlessness and humidity. Thanks to such weather conditions, the "magic columns" of light appeared, forming a whole light forest.

Swallow's Nest Castle, Republic of Crimea

The Swallow's Nest is a museum-castle perched on a 130-foot cliff near Yalta. It was built in the early 1920s by Baron von Steingel, an oil industrialist, though it looks like a genuine medieval castle.

The Swallow's Nest features unique Neo-Gothic architecture with elegant turrets and intricate patterns on its facade. It's surrounded only by cliffs and the clear blue sea, creating a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that visitors admire from the castle's viewing platform.
