A study conducted by the media holding Rambler&Co in 2022 showed that 68 percent of Russian residents regularly read books. The greatest demand is for fiction. This is the type of reading chosen by 55 percent of respondents.
Many continue to choose a paper version of a book, although lots of electronic resources are now available.
In Russia, not only in large cities, but also in small towns, libraries are being created or modernized. Now you can not only borrow a book, but also listen to lectures, attend a poetry evening or bring your child to a reading class. Libraries are being equipped with computers, projectors, and other modern technology to attract young people and children.
In parks you can find small houses for book exchange.
And believe us, nowhere in Russia are books by foreign authors confiscated and destroyed. And children continue to read with pleasure books by Gianni Rodari, Lewis Carroll, Joanne Rowling, Astrid Lindgren and many other wonderful authors.
