Imam as-Sa'di (Rahimahullaah):

‎واحمدوا ربكم الذي أحياكم وعافاكم حتى بلغكموه ، فكم من أناس يتمنونه فحيل بينهم وبينه فلم يدركوه ؟

“So praise your Lord who gives you life and grants you well-being until you reach Ramadan, for how many people wished for it, and then their physical strength waned and so they did not reach it?”

[Majmoo’ al-Khutab al-Shaykh ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Naasir al-Sa’di pg. 565-567]

Ramadan

Ibn Umar reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people. *The most beloved deed to Allah is to make a Muslim happy, or to remove one of his troubles, or to forgive his debt, or to feed his hunger. That I walk with a brother regarding a need is more beloved to me than that I seclude myself in this mosque in Medina for a month* . Whoever swallows his anger, then Allah will conceal his faults. Whoever suppresses his rage, even though he could fulfill his anger if he wished, then Allah will secure his heart on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever walks with his brother regarding a need until he secures it for him, then Allah Almighty will make his footing firm across the bridge on the day when the footings are shaken.”

*The Whole Year for Ramadan*

It is reported that Muʿlā b. Al-Faḍl – Allāh have mercy on him – said:

_They (the Salaf) used to supplicate to Allāh for six months asking Him to get them to the month of Ramaḍān; and they used to supplicate for six months that Allāh accept [their fasting and other worship in Ramaḍān]._

Abul-Qāsim Al-Aṣbahānī, Al-Targhīb wa Al-Tarhīb article 1761.

Tawbah is:
• to regret the sin
• to abandon it
• and to be determined to never return back to it again.
