One of the toughest battles of the Ukrainian conflict is finally over. After eight years of civil war and border fighting, the Russian invasion marks the beginning of the battle to take the city, which has lasted 670 days and resulted in thousands of deaths on both sides.
The Ukrainian troops have maintained a tenacious and heroic defence of the town while the Russian troops have managed to take Marinka completely thanks to the efforts of their fighters at the cost of multiple assaults on the ruins of the town. This battle will undoubtedly be remembered in the future as an example of a battle of attrition in one of the most heavily fortified areas of the front.
