The second question of Fatwa no. 19282

Q 2: We have a mosque (in our neighborhood) but without an Imam (the one who leads congregational Prayer) or reciter of the Qur'an. Is it permissible to listen to the Qur'an and the Khutbah (sermon) from the radio and offer the (Jumu’ah) Prayer after that?

A 2: Among the conditions of the validity of the Jumu’ah (Friday) Prayer is to be preceded by two Khutbahs. They should be delivered orally and it is insufficient to listen to them from a cassette player. As for the reciter, the Imam is enough if he recites the Qur'an properly in the Prayer.

May Allah grant us success, May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

-The person who doesn't have good character is going to live a miserable life. Because knowing the fruits of a thing, and the benefits of a thing, and the beautiful outcomes of a thing, is from the greatest of causes to push you to doing those things, and working for those things, and developing those things.

-No matter how difficult things get, and no matter how severe a situation may be, when he contemplates over the benefits of having good character and how this will cause the outcome to be most positive, and then when he sees that the situation is trying to push him off of his square, when he sees that the bitterness of the situation is trying to push him to having the opposite of good character then he finds that it is easy for him to stay on his square, to stay composed to solve the problem.

And he finds that he seeks the reward of Allāh in doing so...

No matter how many posting you share on Unity & claim to be united people will not accept your Da'wah unless you stop arguing with your Salafi brothers in the matters of ijtihad.

You must be forgiving, Forbearing, you must have love, respect good thoughts about your brothers and sisters if you really want to be united.

& you must correct your brothers & and sisters directly in private if their mistakes are private. Not by posting long winded speech on the social media to get likes and shares.

Don't make this pure Da'wah to look ugly with your negative attitude towards your Salafi brothers & sisters.

Many people want to be associated with the community but they are afraid to get connected by seeing fightings in the name of the religion.

-An intelligent person thinks about how to outsmart, how to try to defuse the situation.

- If he knows he's going to get into confrontation with another individual and that somebody might pick a fight with him or argue with him, so on and so forth, that he trains himself mentally.

-And he knows that there is nobody on the face of the earth who is free of opponents (enemies). You could be the Nicest guy on the face of the earth, somebody is going to hate you for it.

-Ibn al-Hibban said in Rawdat al-'Uqala that the scholars said in the past that: The person who thinks that he's going to be safe from having enemies is Majnoon.

-He said: If you live on the top of a mountain where nobody else was around you, somebody on the face of the earth will find you and make himself your enemy.

-Somebody you're going to come into contact with is not going to like you just because there's something about you they're going to hate. And so a person has to prepare himself mentally to deal with foolish people.

-And it's the way of the scholars in the past that you don't antagonize an idiot. You don't feed him to stupidity, you don't fuel the fire.

💎🎙️Be A Key for Good: a Khutbah by Al-Sa’dī

Anas ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“Indeed, among people are those who are keys to goodness and locks to evil, and among people are those who are keys to evil and locks to goodness. So, glad tidings for the one whom Allah has made the keys to goodness at his hands, and woe to the one whom Allah has made the keys to evil at his hands.”

Al-Sa’dī (رحمه الله) said (al Fawākih al-Shahiyah):

By what the Chosen One (the Prophet) mentioned, men are measured, and through it, the people of deficiency are distinguished from the people of wholeness. So be, may Allah have mercy on you, keys to goodness and locks to evil and calamities.

Whoever among you is sincere to Allah, bears goodwill and advises the servants of Allah, and strives for good to the best of his ability — he is a key to goodness and has attained happiness. And whoever is the opposite of that is a lock to goodness and has indeed achieved misery.

There are people who, when you gather with them in their gatherings, strive to engage others in what benefits them in their religion and worldly matters. And among them are those who engage others in what harms and does not concern them, thus depriving them of good and bringing them misery.

Some strive to bring hearts closer, to foster a united word and harmony, while others strive to stir up discord, division, and conflict.

Some exert efforts to remove hatred from people's hearts, while others ignite enmity within them.

Some encourage generosity, kindness, and tolerance, while others call for stinginess, greed, and callousness.

Some diversify in their acts of kindness through their bodies, words, and wealth, while others do not know kindness even in small amounts, so do not ask about the evil of their condition.

Some people's gatherings are filled with backbiting, tale-carrying, and personal attacks, while others distance themselves and their companions from such things.

“A Golden Advice for Whoever Possesses Intellect & Heart”

By Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī — may Allah have mercy on him

He said:

“…My brothers, I counsel you to follow the way of the righteous predecessors—in learning, in conduct, and in calling others to the truth. No harsh rigidity, no excessiveness. A call marked by forbearance, mercy, and lofty manners. By Allah, the Salafī call spreads through such qualities.

But today it is being eaten away, and those who merely claim affiliation—wrongfully so, I do not mean the true Salafīs—have caused it to crumble before people’s eyes. They have disfigured the Salafī daʿwah through this behavior.

I advise the youth to fear Allah, to seek beneficial knowledge, to perform righteous deeds, and to call others with knowledge and wisdom.

My brothers, the internet has become a disgrace. People now mock those who call themselves Salafīs; they laugh at them and cheer in delight—may Allah bless you.

Whoever among you has learned and grasped tafsīr should present to people writings in tafsīr: verses dealing with rulings, verses dealing with moral character, verses dealing with matters of belief. Publish what brings benefit; that is true daʿwah.

Whoever is grounded in ḥadīth—may Allah bless you—should offer writings explaining the meanings of ḥadīths and what they contain of rulings, lawful and unlawful matters, morals, and the like.

Fill the world with knowledge.
People are in desperate need of this knowledge.

Quarrels and skirmishes
only distort the Salafī methodology and turn people away from it.

Abandon these disputes—whether on the internet or anywhere else, in any land. Present beneficial knowledge to the people. Do not enter disputes with others or among yourselves.

You have read in this book that the early generations disliked debates. Do not debate except when necessity requires it, and only a learned person—one capable of defeating the people of innovation—should do so.

Do not engage in personal conflicts among yourselves. If something goes wrong, refer it back to the scholars. Do not plunge into confusions and battles, for this has ruined the Salafī daʿwah and harmed it with immense harms the likes of which history has not seen.

And the criminal tools of this satanic internet have fueled these problems. Everyone who feels a passing irritation puts his grievance on the internet. Leave such things. Speak with knowledge that brings honor to you and to your daʿwah.

Whoever does not possess knowledge must not write for people—neither on the internet nor elsewhere—may Allah bless you. Avoid grudges and resentment, for by Allah you will kill this daʿwah. And I hope none of you have taken part in this calamity.

I ask Allah to keep us and you firm upon the Sunnah.

Listen, my brothers:
Whoever possesses knowledge and has mastered it should write on the internet what benefits people in tafsīr—while being confident—introducing matters of creed, character, rulings, and so on—may Allah bless you.

Tafsīr itself is an ocean—by Allah, an ocean. You have an ocean. All the ḥadīths are before you, so explain them, relying upon the explanations of the scholars with careful, precise clarification. Present them to people in matters of belief, worship, and character—in a wise, calm manner that benefits them.

By Allah, you will see how the daʿwah grows, develops, and brings light to the world. But now Salafiyyah has been darkened—may Allah bless you—by these methods.

I advise you to leave argumentation and dispute on the internet, and in public spaces as well. I advise you sincerely—may Allah bless you.

Whoever has knowledge must speak with knowledge, write with knowledge, and call with knowledge—with proof and evidence.

Avoid disagreements and the causes of division; do not stir them among yourselves. If someone errs, present the matter to the scholars, and they will address it—may Allah bless you, guide your steps, and unite your hearts. May Allah bless you.”

Defending the Honour of the Muslims⬇️

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān

Staying silent when a brother/sister's honour is being attacked? Its not my problem! I'm not getting involved! What is the legislated action for the believer in this situation?

bismallah

If he happens to attend a gathering and his Muslim brother is being mentioned with sin or being degraded, then he defends him as he would defend his own honour, because his brother’s honour is like his own.
Dr. Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān

defendinghonour

Abū a-Dardāʾ (رضى الله عنه) narrated that the Messenger of Allāh (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Whoever defends his brother’s honor in his absence, Allāh will protect his face from the Fire of Hell on the Day of Resurrection.”

[Related by Al-Tirmidhī who graded it to be Ḥasan. Aḥmad has something similar from the Ḥadīth of Asmāʾ ibnt Yazīd.]

Explanation:

“Whoever defends his brother’s honor in his absence...”

Meaning: In the state of his brother’s absence. If he happens to attend a gathering and his Muslim brother is being mentioned with sin or being degraded, then he defends him as he would defend his own honor, because his brother’s honor is like his own. Therefore he defends his brother’s honor, by censuring the backbiters and preventing them from persisting as it relates to the honor of his Muslim brother. He does not resign and stay quiet, leaving them to backbite. This is the Muslim’s obligation, and it is not permitted for him to stay quiet and keep the peace, for he will be sinning due to that and he will be a sharer and partner to them regarding the sin, (that is) because he saw an evil (taking place) and he did not change it, whilst having the ability to do so. How much more then, if he participated with them in the act, and he began backbiting with them? This is even worse. As for if he defends his brother’s honor and he prevents them from backbiting his brother, then Allāh, the Majestic and Exalted, will reward him by protecting his face from the Fire on the Day of Resurrection. This is a tremendous favor, because on the Day of Resurrection, the Fire will be brought in to view. He, the Most High, said:

“And Hell-fire shall be made apparent in full view for (every) one who sees.” (79:36)

And He, the Majestic and Exalted, said:

“And the Mujrimūn (criminals, polytheists, sinners) shall see the Fire and apprehend that
they have to fall therein.” (18:53)

It will be hot and blazing, and nothing will protect against it except for righteous actions. A person will look to his right side, and he will not see anything except what he has done, and he will look to his left side and he will not see anything except what he has done, and he will look in front of himself and he will not see anything except the Fire; therefore, it is upon him to prepare for this situation. And from preparing for this situation is to refrain from (encroaching upon) the honor of the Muslim and defending them.

So this (ḥadīth) contains the exhortation toward defending the honor of the Muslims which is being violated in gatherings or in writings. If you were to see someone writing about a Muslim, and the ʿUlamāʾ’ specifically, and the Muslim Ruler, then it is upon you to defend them, as this is from defending the honor of the Muslims.
