Why study in Poland?

In short: Poland offers a few hundred programs in English, all of European quality, with very competitive tuition fees. Also the cost of living in Poland is way lower that in most European countries.

Some entertainment for the weekend: a clip shot by international students at the University of Łódź in central Poland

We are now in the peak season for student visas. We have already significantly increased numbers of accepted visa applications. We will gradually offer more slots in the coming days. Please register online at: https://e-konsulat.gov.pl/
International students can legally work in Poland. Many Ethiopian students stay over the summer to work and help covering their costs. Polish visa also allows you to travel freely across the Schengen zone, enjoy! 🚵‍♀️🚅🤿🏕🛤🍺🛶🎷

However:

Polish visa does not allow you to move and work in other EU country. If you do that you will end up without legal status and can be subject to detention/deportation. It's not worth it.

If you actually intend to use the visa to only work - you should apply for work visa. Otherwise you may get visa refusal.
Fun fact😜: expensive programs in 🇵🇱, such as medicine, are very popular among students from other European countries, especially from Scandinavia.

➡️This is because the quality of education and recognition of the Polish diploma are similar, while the tuition fees and cost of living are a fraction of what the students would have to pay home.
We are trying hard to meet the demand for student visas for the semester starting Feb/March. We are aware that not everyone could secure their visa interview date yet. We will be opening more slots soon, please visit : https://e-konsulat.gov.pl/
What is the role of agents in the admission and recruitment process?

The universities often hire agents for the admission process. Agents would advertise the programs, assist in paperwork, translation, legalization, etc. Usually they get commission from the university for each admitted student. They may charge you modest fees for paperwork. It's all ok 😎

☝🏿However, if they want to charge you significant amounts – you should get suspicious.

The agents have no role in the visa process. The online application form is designed to be easy to use by individuals. If you still prefer to pay an agent for assistance in filling in the form, we don’t mind.

☝🏿However, if an agent tells you they “cooperate with the Embassy”, only they can secure interview date or guarantee visa, and expect you to pay a lot of money for that – you should get very suspicious. Please report such cases to us by email or phone.
Due to the COVID-19 epidemics a number of travel restrictions have been put in place by the Polish government: All international flights are suspended for 10 days and this may be extended. Foreign citizens are not allowed in, with few exceptions. Everyone coming from abroad undregoes compulsory two week self-quarantine regardlass of citizenship.

Also, all universities, schools, shopping malls, museums etc. are closed for now.

If you recently got a student visa, and didn’t leave for Poland yet - hold on and follow the updates. If you are already in Poland, follow the instructions of the authorities and guidelines from your university.

Please also note that the Embassy of Poland in Addis Ababa stops accepting visa applications until further notice, even if you have a visa appointment booked.
