✴️1984 sikh riots
🔔Operation Blue Star was an operation conducted by the Indian Armed forces that took place in 1984 in the state of Punjab. The operation started on 1 June 1984 when the Indian armed forces fired into various buildings in the Golden Temple Complex which resulted in the deaths of multiple civilians. The Operation took place after the Indian government led by PM Indira Gandhi rejected the proposal of the Anandpur resolution put forward by JS Bhindranwale who wanted the Government to pass the same and thus agree to the formation of a state of Khalistan in India for Sikhs among other demands.

📌Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023:
👉🏻Bill proposes to increase the total number of seats in the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly from 107 to 114, of which 7 would be reserved for scheduled caste members and 9 seats for legislators from scheduled tribes.
👉🏻As per the Bill, 24 seats of the Assembly will remain vacant until the occupation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir ceases.
👉🏻the effective strength of the Assembly is 83, which the amendment seeks to increase to 90.
🔥Comparison with Delhi and Puducherry: Like Puducherry, J&K’s Assembly is governed by Article 239A, while Delhi operates under a distinct Article 239AA with a more complex power-sharing framework between the LG and the government. In Delhi’s case, three subjects land, public order, and police are reserved for the LG.
🖍LG’s Authority: In addition to "Public Order" and "Police," the LG has authority over bureaucracy and the Anti-Corruption Bureau, with discretionary powers .
