This is a simplified explanation of Apple’s Unified Memory. In reality, performance depends on multiple factors beyond just memory architecture. Apple’s efficiency also comes from its ARM based architecture, high memory bandwidth, tight CPU, GPU and Neural Engine integration, and deep hardware and software optimization.
Also, unified or shared memory is not entirely new. Many systems with integrated GPUs already use it, but Apple has implemented it in a more optimized way.
