इतनी ऑटोमेशन मिल जाती है कि इंसान वे बेसिक बातें भी भूलने लगता है, जो सालों से सीखी थीं।
Tesla असल में कार नहीं है। वह एक गैजेट है—चार पहियों पर। न चाबी, न स्टार्ट/स्टॉप बटन। आप ड्राइवर सीट पर बैठते हैं, कार अपने आप चालू। गंतव्य पर पहुँचे—दरवाज़ा खोलिए, बाहर निकलिए—कार अपने आप बंद और लॉक। आपको कुछ करना ही नहीं पड़ता। यही Tesla की फिलॉसफी है—मानव हस्तक्षेप न्यूनतम।
अब ज़रा ऑटोमेशन की पराकाष्ठा देखिए। आप FSD यानी Full Self Drive मोड में लंबी यात्रा पर हैं। कार जानती है कि किस बिंदु पर बैटरी 20% पर पहुँचेगी। उसी हिसाब से वह अपने आप चार्जिंग स्टेशन चुनती है, स्लॉट बुक करती है, हाईवे से उतरती है, आपको उसी रिज़र्व्ड स्लॉट पर ले जाकर रोकती है। आप उतरकर कॉफी पीजिए। चार्जिंग अपने आप। पेमेंट अपने आप—कार में सेव क्रेडिट कार्ड से। और चार्जिंग स्टेशन पहुँचने से पहले बैटरी को गर्म करना भी कार खुद कर लेती है ताकि चार्ज तेज़ हो। यह ड्राइविंग नहीं है—यह ऑर्केस्ट्रेशन है।
Tesla पूरी तरह सॉफ़्टवेयर पर टिकी है। हर क्रिसमस Elon Musk एक “तोहफ़ा” देते हैं—एक बड़ा सॉफ़्टवेयर अपडेट। नई फीचर्स, नए मोड्स। मतलब आपकी कार हर साल नई हो जाती है। अपडेट्स तय समय पर अपने आप इंस्टॉल होते हैं। EV होने के कारण मेंटेनेंस लगभग न के बराबर—तेल, फ़िल्टर, सर्विस—कुछ नहीं। बस सॉफ़्टवेयर। ऑटोमेशन का शिखर तब दिखता है जब आप रिवर्स कर रहे हों। मैनुअल मोड में भी आपको गियर बदलने की ज़रूरत नहीं। ब्रेक, आसपास की स्थिति और स्टीयरिंग पर आपकी पकड़—इन सब से कार समझ लेती है कि आप रिवर्स करना चाहते हैं। गियर बदलने का बोझ भी इंसान से हटा लिया गया है।
अगर EVs की दुनिया देखें तो चीनी कार BYD को लोग EVs की Mercedes कहते हैं—मज़बूत मैकेनिकल्स, शानदार फीचर्स, और क़ीमत भी कम। लेकिन जहाँ वह पीछे रह जाती है, वहीं Tesla आगे निकल जाती है—मानव निर्भरता में। अमेरिका हमेशा ऑटोमेशन में आगे रहा है, और Tesla उसका जीता-जागता उदाहरण है। Tesla आपको इतनी सुविधा दे देती है कि एक बार इसकी आदत पड़ जाए, तो ड्राइविंग में कोई मेहनत करना आपको खलने लगता है।
और शायद यही Tesla की सबसे बड़ी चालाकी है।
