Sangay logs 356 blasts as Fuego pulses and Reventador glows overnight

Explosive Andean and Central American activity stood out today, led by Sangay with 356 recorded blasts and Guatemala's Fuego producing frequent pulses. Reventador added dozens of explosions with ash and incandescent rockfalls, while Santa Maria's dome glowed and shed hot blocks. Across Indonesia, several craters stayed active or restless at mid-tier alert levels.

Indonesia
At lewotolok (lewotolo/news.html), ash-and-gas rose about 50 m with seven seismic explosions and a single rockfall (Level 2 - Alert). Eruptions also persisted at Ibu (Level 2 - Alert) and at semeru (semeru/news.html) (Level 3 - Standby), while unrest continued at Gamalama (Level 2 - Alert).

Mexico
popocatepetl (popocatepetl/news.html) released ash, gas, and vapor. The volcano remains at Yellow Alert - Phase 2.

South America
In Ecuador, sangay (sangay/news.html) registered 356 explosions and ash-and-gas up to 800 m, with thermal anomalies detected. reventador (reventador/news.html) produced about 70 explosions, ash to 600 m, and incandescent rockfalls amid ongoing thermal activity.

Other
Guatemala's fuego (fuego/news.html) generated up to 10 explosions per hour, lofting plumes to about 1,037 m and ejecting incandescent material 300 m above the crater. At santa maria (santiaguito/news.html), the Caliente dome glowed with intermittent explosions and incandescent rockfalls, sending plumes up to 900 m. Unrest persisted at pacaya (pacaya/news.html) with gas-and-vapor emissions.
