Explosions and steady lava output headline today's activity. Guatemala's Fuego produced frequent Strombolian blasts with ashfall and shockwaves, while Alaska's Great Sitkin (Watch / Aviation ORANGE) showed slow lava advance in its summit crater. In Hawaii, Kilauea (Advisory / Aviation YELLOW) remained paused but glowed strongly, and Indonesia's Dukono and Ibu tallied dozens to over a hundred explosions.
United States
At great sitkin (great-sitkin/news.html) (Watch / Aviation ORANGE), lava effusion persisted with minor eastward flow advance, and rockfalls were detected. At kilauea (kilauea/news.html) (Advisory / Aviation YELLOW), eruptive output is paused; continuous degassing accompanied strong, persistent glow and bursts of flames at the south vent. Unrest continued at shishaldin (shishaldin/news.html) (Advisory / Aviation YELLOW).
Indonesia
Explosive activity stood out at dukono (dukono/news.html) with 30 explosions and plumes to 2.7 km above the vent, and at ibu (ibu/news.html) with 125 explosions and ash rising to 0.8 km. Eruptions also persisted at several other volcanoes at Level 2, while higher Level 3 conditions remained at merapi (merapi/news.html) and semeru (semeru/news.html). A number of additional centers showed Level 2 unrest, and two—Ijen and Tangkuban Parahu—were at Normal.

In the Philippines, mayon (mayon/news.html) held at Alert Level 3 with an ongoing eruption, while kanlaon (canlaon/news.html) remained in eruption at Alert Level 2. Low-level unrest persisted at taal (taal/news.html) (Alert Level 1) and bulusan (bulusan/news.html) (Alert Level 1).
Mexico
At popocatepetl (popocatepetl/news.html), the eruption continued under Yellow Alert - Phase 2.
South America
In Ecuador, reventador (reventador/news.html) and sangay (sangay/news.html) recorded 61 and 65 explosions, respectively; incandescent rockfalls at Reventador descended about 1 km below the crater. Peru's sabancaya (sabancaya/news.html) emitted ash-and-gas up to 1 km above the summit and registered five quakes tied to internal fluid movement.

Explosions and steady lava output headline today's activity. Guatemala's Fuego produced frequent Strombolian blasts with ashfall and shockwaves, while Alaska's Great Sitkin (Watch / Aviation ORANGE) showed slow lava advance in its summit crater. In Hawaii, Kilauea (Advisory / Aviation YELLOW) remained paused but glowed strongly, and Indonesia's Dukono and Ibu tallied dozens to over a hundred explosions.
United States
At great sitkin (great-sitkin/news.html) (Watch / Aviation ORANGE), lava effusion persisted with minor eastward flow advance, and rockfalls were detected. At kilauea (kilauea/news.html) (Advisory / Aviation YELLOW), eruptive output is paused; continuous degassing accompanied strong, persistent glow and bursts of flames at the south vent. Unrest continued at shishaldin (shishaldin/news.html) (Advisory / Aviation YELLOW).
Indonesia
Explosive activity stood out at dukono (dukono/news.html) with 30 explosions and plumes to 2.7 km above the vent, and at ibu (ibu/news.html) with 125 explosions and ash rising to 0.8 km. Eruptions also persisted at several other volcanoes at Level 2, while higher Level 3 conditions remained at merapi (merapi/news.html) and semeru (semeru/news.html). A number of additional centers showed Level 2 unrest, and two—Ijen and Tangkuban Parahu—were at Normal.
Philippines
In the Philippines, mayon (mayon/news.html) held at Alert Level 3 with an ongoing eruption, while kanlaon (canlaon/news.html) remained in eruption at Alert Level 2. Low-level unrest persisted at taal (taal/news.html) (Alert Level 1) and bulusan (bulusan/news.html) (Alert Level 1).
Mexico
At popocatepetl (popocatepetl/news.html), the eruption continued under Yellow Alert - Phase 2.
South America
In Ecuador, reventador (reventador/news.html) and sangay (sangay/news.html) recorded 61 and 65 explosions, respectively; incandescent rockfalls at Reventador descended about 1 km below the crater. Peru's sabancaya (sabancaya/news.html) emitted ash-and-gas up to 1 km above the summit and registered five quakes tied to internal fluid movement.
