The Instituto Nacional de Sismología, Vulcanología, Meteorología e Hidrología (INSIVUMEH) reported that the eruption continued at Fuego between 7 May 2026 (local) and 8 May 2026 (local). There were explosions reported, with plumes rising to a maximum of 937 m (3,074 ft) above the vent. Ash fall was reported in Santa Sofía, El Porvenir, Sangre de Cristo, San Pedro Yepocapa, and Pochuta. There were incandescent rockfalls. Activity also included: audible sounds (e.g., booms, rumbling), shockwave.

The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard/Pusat Vulkanologi dan Mitigasi Bencana Geologi (CVGHM/PVMBG) reported that eruptive activity increased at Dukono on 8 May 2026 (local). Harmonic tremor episodes were recorded 4 times. At 0741 on 8 May, an eruption lasting approximately 16 minutes was recorded, producing a white, gray, and black eruption column that, based on an initial ground observer estimate, rose 10,000 m above the crater and drifted N. The alert level remained at "Level 2 - Alert" (on a 4-level scale). Activity also included: audible sounds (e.g., booms, rumbling), harmonic tremor.
