popocatepetl (popocatepetl/news.html) released ash, gas, and steam, and recorded a M1.4 volcano-tectonic earthquake; the alert remained at Yellow, Phase 2.
South America
In Ecuador, reventador (reventador/news.html) registered 104 explosions with ash to 800 m and incandescent rockfalls to 1 km, while sangay (sangay/news.html) logged 165 explosions. Peru's sabancaya (sabancaya/news.html) emitted ash-and-gas plumes to about 700 m alongside a handful of internal quakes.
