Kilauea volcano (Hawai'i): 44th lava fountaining episode just started

The 44th episode 44 of lava fountaining in Halemaʻumaʻu crater at the summit of Kīlauea began at 11:10 a.m. HST on April 9, about one hour ago.
The eruption follows essentially the same pattern as almost all preceding episodes over the past 16 months. Lava fountains are now reaching heights around 1,000 ft (300 m) and lava flows are resurfacing the crater floor.
Ground-level sensors near the eruptive vents indicate that winds are blowing from the south, which suggests that volcanic gas emissions and volcanic material may be distributed to the north from Halemaʻumaʻu.
All eruptive vents and lava flows are confined to Halemaʻumaʻu crater within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park.
