Google is slashing 12,000 positions, or 6% of its employees, in an extraordinary move on a scale never seen by the internet behemoth. When combined with the layoffs at Microsoft and Amazon earlier in the month, January has resulted in 40,000 FAANG employees looking for work.
Cuts in finance are nothing new. Banks are well recognized for hiring and firing in response to market and revenue fluctuations. Goldman's layoffs were terrible, but they weren't nearly as traumatic or poorly conducted (it appears) as Google's layoffs are now. - Hope you all are prepared for the changes. We do still have time to fight back but action must be taken
