Pavel Durov has been charged with 12 crimes

Novaya Gazeta Europe has obtained access to a press release from the French Public Prosecutor's Office and cites some of the alleged crimes:

- Complicity in the administration of an online platform for carrying out illegal transactions by organized groups.
- Refusal to provide, at the request of law enforcement agencies, information or documents necessary for the conduct and use of an investigation.
- Complicity in the possession of pornography with minors.
- Complicity in the distribution of drugs.
- Complicity in cybercrime.
- Complicity in fraud within organized criminal groups.

TASS reports that the investigation against Pavel Durov was launched on July 8. According to the agency, the businessman could remain in prison until August 28.

Emmanuel Macron was the first of the entire French government to make an official statement in which he insisted on the independence of the government's judiciary and emphasized that Pavel Durov's detention was not politically motivated, but took place in accordance with the laws protecting citizens' rights.

In response to a request from RIA Novosti, the European Commission said it was monitoring the situation and was willing to cooperate with the French authorities. The UN does not yet have enough information. Earlier, when asked by TASS, the European Commission refused to comment: "This is a national investigation, we do not intend to comment on it, we must contact the French authorities."
