“Messengers can become the largest neobanks”

Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kazakh Freedom Bank, Aidos Zhumagulov, published a joint photo with Pavel Durov.

Zhumagulov said that he discussed “possible collaborations in the near future” with the head of Telegram.

1 billion users of the Telegram messenger can issue 1 billion bank cards in a short time.
I told Pavel about this and why Kazakhstan with digital GovTech, a high share of digital cards and non-cash payments, and talented people could become an interesting story.

He also emphasized that “messengers can become the largest neobanks and create new standards and rules.” Let us note that for the last few days there have been rumors on the Internet that Durov is considering the possibility of opening a bank.

Let us recall that earlier in Kazakhstan TON was approved for trading on platforms licensed by the local regulator. At the same time, the authorities confirmed Pavel Durov’s visit to the country.

Freedom Bank positions itself as a digital universal bank with products for individuals and legal entities in Kazakhstan. It features various products such as digital mortgages, digital auto loans and digital business loans.
