🕯️ Two years ago, Israel faced the darkest day in its history.
On October 7th, Palestinian Hamas jihadists invaded our land — murdering, burning, and kidnapping innocent men, women, and children.

Two years later, we remember October 7th — we remember the victims, we pray for the return of the hostages still held in Gaza, and we stand united against terror. Hamas must be dismantled to end this war.

We remain committed to our values, now more than ever.
Light will rise over darkness.

Consul-General of Israel to Southern China Yaki Lopez:

"As we mark two years since the horrors of October 7th, I recall the tragedy of the Katz family:
Aviv and Livnat, their daughter Rotem, and their two sons, Yiftach and Yonatan.

They loved to travel and see the world, but chose to make their home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza, where Aviv had grown up. They chose to raise their children there, to live with purpose and hope despite the dangers.

On October 7th, terrorists broke into their home and murdered them all, as they huddled together in their safe room.

When rescuers found them, they were still hugging each other."

Shiri, Kfir, and Ariel Bibas.

Mother, baby, and his brother.

Abducted from their home on October 7th.

Brutally murdered by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza.

Three of the 1,200 victims of inhuman malice, hatred, and cruelty.

We will not forget.
We will not forgive.

October 7, 2023 - a day that changed us forever.

Palestinian Hamas terrorists murdered over 1,200 people and took 251 hostages into Gaza.
We remember how it began - and we will never stop bearing witness.

But Israel stands tall - for life, for freedom, against terror.

Two years since October 7, 2023.

Hamas terrorists started this war by murdering over 1,200 people — babies, children, women, men, even Holocaust survivors — in a brutal massacre.

That day, 251 people were taken hostage by Palestinian Hamas and held in Gaza. Some were released in hostage deals, while others were returned in body bags — murdered in captivity.

Today, 48 hostages remain in Gaza, including both the living and those who were murdered and whose bodies are still being held.

May the memory of all the victims be blessed — and may every hostage, living or dead, come home. 🕯️

Another futile attempt to breach the legal naval blockade and enter a combat zone ended in nothing. The vessels and the passengers are transferred to an Israeli port. All the passengers are safe and in good health. The passengers are expected to be deported promptly.

President Isaac Herzog on X:

Two years since that dark day, October 7 2023, the day Israel’s soul was torn apart, when Hamas terrorists unleashed unspeakable evil against innocent men, women, and children.
From that darkness rose the courage of our soldiers, the heroism of our citizens, and the unity of a people who refused to break.

We will not rest, we will not be silent, until all 48 hostages are home.

As antisemitism surges like a tidal wave across the world, we stand shoulder to shoulder with Jewish communities everywhere.

Israel remains a beacon of freedom and democracy in a turbulent region, and I truly believe that out of the pain of these years, a new era of cooperation and shared prosperity can yet be born.

From the depths of grief we draw strength; from the ashes of tragedy we build renewal. The story of Israel is the story of resilience, of a people who will never give up, never give in, and never stop believing that light will overcome the darkness.

As President of Israel, I thank our friends and partners around the world for the many heartfelt messages of solidarity and remembrance as we mark two years since October 7, and I extend special thanks to President Trump for his incredible efforts to bring all our hostages home and bring peace to the Middle East. I pray for the success of his efforts and the success of the negotiating teams.

Am Yisrael Chai.

Prime Minister Netanyahu (translated from Hebrew):

"Two years have passed since the October 7th attack – the horrific massacre of our brothers and sisters, the residents of the Western Negev and the participants of the Nova music festival.

We have paid a most painful price. Babies, children, adults, and the elderly were brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists. Two hundred and fifty one men and women were taken as hostages into the terror tunnels of the Gaza Strip.

My wife and I bow our heads in memory of our dead and our fallen, whose images will be forever ingrained in our hearts. We embrace with love the grieving families, wish a full recovery to the wounded in body and soul, and of course, continue to do everything for the return of all the hostages – both the living and the deceased.

Our bloodthirsty enemies have hurt us badly, but they did not break us. Before long, they discovered the enormous strength of the nation of Israel.

The seven-front War of Redemption is a momentous war for our homeland – a war for our very existence and future.

Alongside the immense pain, we feel great pride in the miraculous resilience capability of our state.

Our soldiers and commanders are fighting back in kind against our foes on every front, be it near or far. Whoever raises a hand against us suffers devastating and unprecedented blows.

Together, we smashed the Iranian axis. Together, we changed the face of the Middle East. Together, we will ensure the eternity of Israel.

Citizens of Israel,

We are in a time of fateful decisions. We will continue to act to achieve all the aims of the war: return all the hostages, destroy the Hamas regime, and ensure that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel.

Together we shall stand – and together, with God's help, we shall be victorious".

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar:

"Spoke with the FM of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev and congratulated him on his new position.
We discussed the talks in Egypt and I said that we hope to move forward with the implementation of the first phase of President Trump's Plan. We want to see our hostages home soon.
We also discussed ways to promote bilateral relations between our countries.
Minister Kosherbayev wished us a happy Sukkot. I thanked him for that and invited him to visit Israel." 🇮🇱🇰🇿

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar:

"France’s new initiative, concocted behind Israel’s back at the sensitive timing of the negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh, is unnecessary and harmful, just like its predecessors.

We view this as yet another attempt by President Macron to divert attention from his domestic problems at Israel’s expense.

I hope that current move of the French government will not undermine the critical negotiations for the release of hostages, as it already happened in the past.

The fact that the “New York Declaration” received, in the invitations to the conference, a status similar to that of the Trump Plan, is proof of an attempt to disrupt the implementation of the Trump Plan.

The invitation of openly hostile governments toward Israel — such as the Sánchez government — to discuss Israel’s affairs is especially outrageous.

The participants may of course discuss whatever topics they wish — but there will be no arrangements in Gaza formulated without Israel’s consent.

French hypocrisy is particularly astonishing given that France itself coined the principle “Ukraine’s future cannot be decided without Ukraine.” Another example of double standards.

Today we make it clear: nothing about Israel without Israel!

Israel will not agree to the internationalization of the conflict!"

*Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:*

With the approval of the first phase of the plan, all our hostages will be brought home. This is a diplomatic success and a national and moral victory for the State of Israel.

From the beginning, I made it clear: we will not rest until all our hostages return and all our goals are achieved.

Through steadfast resolve, powerful military action, and the great efforts of our great friend and ally President Trump, we have reached this critical turning point.

I thank President Trump for his leadership, his partnership, and his unwavering commitment to the safety of Israel and the freedom of our hostages.

God Bless Israel.
God Bless America.
God Bless our great alliance.

President Isaac Herzog on X:

This is a morning of historic and momentous news.

I give my full support for the agreement reached in Egypt. I express my thanks to Prime Minister Netanyahu and the negotiating team, the mediators, and all those involved in this vital effort.

I wish to extend my deepest thanks to President Donald Trump for his incredible leadership toward securing the release of the hostages, bringing an end to the war, and creating hope for a new reality in the Middle East. There is no doubt that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for this. Should he visit us in the coming days, he will be received with immense respect, affection, and gratitude by the people of Israel.

This agreement will bring moments of indescribable relief to the dear families who have not slept for 733 days.

This agreement offers a chance to mend, to heal, and to open a new horizon of hope for our region.

This is a time to honor the heroes among us: our sons and daughters who fought bravely to bring the hostages home; the bereaved families; the wounded in body and spirit; and all who have paid an unbearable price for this historic and vital moment.

“And they shall return from the land of the enemy… and children shall return to their own border.” With God’s help.

Am Yisrael Chai.

Rabin Medical Center- Beilinson Hospital: Preparing to Receive the Returning Hostages

Moments of immense emotion and anticipation: at Rabin Medical Center, part of Clalit Health Services, preparations for the arrival of the returning hostages are in full swing. Alongside the deep excitement, they will be provided with the best possible conditions - medical, emotional, and familial.

In the Returning Hostages Unit, led by Prof. Noa Eliakim Raz, every detail has been carefully prepared. The teams are ready to receive the returnees swiftly and sensitively, drawing on the extensive experience gained in previous rounds.

In the spirit of the holiday of Sukkot, a special Sukkah (traditional Jewish hut) of unity, mutual responsibility, and embrace has been built within the Returning Hostages unit at Rabin Medical center - a place of peace, freedom, and togetherness amid days filled with emotion and hope.

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar:

"These are historic moments for the people of Israel and the State of Israel. For over two years of a tough war on multiple fronts, Israel as a nation has shown extraordinary strength, determination, and resilience. We have succeeded in restoring Israel’s image of strength in the region and the world from its low point after Oct. 7th. Israel’s achievements in the existential campaign forced upon us are immense. The crushing of Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza and the removal of the stranglehold they sought to place on Israel. The elimination of the leaders of the terror organizations - Nasrallah, Haniyeh, Sinwar, Deif, and others. A severe blow to Iran’s nuclear program and its ballistic missile program and setting them back. The fall of Assad’s regime, which ruled Syria under Iran’s and Hezbollah’s patronage and served their interests. Damage to the Syrian army and its capabilities. Extremely severe blows to the Houthis and their leadership. The capture of buffer zones on different fronts.

Israel also stood the moral and ethical test of its commitment to return its hostages. Therefore, today is a holiday within a holiday. Israel fulfilled this commitment under the most complex conditions imaginable. I do not think that there is any other nation that would have stood such a test in the same way. This commitment was expressed by the ongoing striving to release the hostages and also in the way that the war itself was conducted.
Today, at the government meeting, I will have the privilege to vote for the third time (after November 2023 and January 2025) in favor of a framework for the release of the hostages.
I will do so with pride, wholeheartedly and with great joy.
Without underestimating the heavy price involved in the release of despicable terrorists. Returning the hostages was at the center of our diplomatic work the whole time. I have always been available to the families of the hostages for anything and at any hour. I have seen up close their anguish and suffering, which are beyond measure. I am moved together with them, like all the people of Israel, at the imminent reunion with their loved ones for whom they have waited and yearned for two years.

Thank you to the IDF and our security forces. Thank you to our wonderful commanders and fighters, descendants of the Maccabees. Without the courage and sacrifice of our soldiers, both active and reservists, we would not have reached this day. I bow my head before the bereaved families who paid the heaviest price. I salute your sons and daughters who gave their lives. The people of Israel owe you an immense and profound debt.

I am proud of my decision to join the government in the most difficult period in Israel’s history and to contribute to the State to the best of my ability. In doing so, I fulfilled my personal and national responsibility, as I see them. Thank God, I had the privilege of being a partner in important historic decisions, some of them bold. Responsibility means bearing the heavy burden of difficult decisions and our shared national campaign. Responsibility means fighting ceaselessly for the country in its darkest hours.
Not to attack and smear from the podium.
In politics, one must see means, not ends. Whoever refused to bear this burden, and certainly whoever preferred to fight the government during wartime against an enemy, failed in his judgment and missed the historic hour."

"I would like to praise the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in this difficult campaign. The Prime Minister withstood difficult trials. Few leaders in the country or the world have faced similar or comparable trials. He showed resilience in the face of tremendous pressure. He did not give up ambitious goals and bold moves. He also knew when it was right to hold the fire in different arenas. He demonstrated steadfastness in achieving all the war’s objectives. I am convinced that, from a historical perspective, it is good for Israel that during this campaign - he was the one who led it.

President Donald Trump is a great friend of Israel. He is also an extraordinary leader in his ability to seize and create historic opportunities. The people of Israel owe him a lot for his decisions and moves as President of the United States. His contribution to the release of hostages in January and this month - is dramatic. We will receive him here with the honor and love that he deserves.

Israel’s challenges are not over. We live in a tough region where our existence is based on our strength, as well as our willingness to fight for our survival. Israel did not give up on any of the war’s goals, as determined by the Security Cabinet. They are all, in fact, included in the Trump Plan. More tests await us. We have always said we prefer to achieve them by political means. We have not given up on ending Hamas' rule in Gaza, nor the removal of the threat it poses to Israel and its citizens.

I hope that in the near future, new political horizons will open for Israel. We have an interest in expanding the circle of peace and normalization in the region. It is important to note that even in these very challenging two years, not a single Arab state that signed peace and normalization agreements with us has withdrawn from them. In the past year, in which I have led the Foreign Ministry, I fought under difficult conditions to preserve and advance Israel’s relations with countries around the world. We opened new embassies in three countries during this difficult year. We fought countless diplomatic containment battles during the recent period. They are not over. I intend in the coming period to work to break new ground in the international arena.

Hold your heads high with pride.
“The eternity of Israel will not lie.”
