An honor to meet with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I again. We discussed religious liberty and how to defend Christians from rising levels of persecution around the world. @EcuPatriarch Bartholomew I.
Athens, Greece - “Now it is evident that the form of government is best in which every man, whoever he is, can act best and live happily.” - Aristotle
Honored to visit the cradle of democracy in Athens on the 250th anniversary of our own American founding. The United States and Europe are bound together as part of one Western Civilization – rooted in common culture, shared heritage, and a principal duty to uphold life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. A big thanks to @USAmbassadorGR and her team for an incredible visit.

Athos, Greece – Faith is the cornerstone of Western civilization. I was honored to visit the monks at Mount Athos, whose daily lives and sacrifice serve as a powerful witness to this truth.
Congratulations to the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and the Tibetan diaspora community on their elections, and to Penpa Tsering on his re-election as the CTA's Sikyong. The United States will continue to engage with democratically elected Tibetan leaders in support of Tibetans everywhere.
Thank you to @twtNKDB for the tour of the “Her Day in North Korea” exhibit, where we learned how the DPRK regime controls the everyday lives of North Koreans. The United States will continue to shine a spotlight on the regime’s pervasive human rights abuses.
It was an honor to visit the Republic of Korea to reaffirm our ironclad alliance, advance key human rights priorities in North Korea, and encourage the ROK government to recommit to protecting freedom of expression and religious liberty. I look forward to continuing this important work together.
Today marks three months since 16-year-old Jonathan David Muir Burgos was sent to a maximum-security Cuban prison, supposedly for participating in a demonstration. He urgently needs medical attention and has not received it. No person - especially no child - should be imprisoned for their political or religious views. We call on the Cuban regime to immediately release him and all unjustly detained political prisoners.
The United States is leading the fight against human trafficking and the criminals who profit from it. The Department of State is seeking partners to help us fight this heinous crime and keep American interests safe. New opportunities are now open.
