Counting bot and click-farm hits as 'leads' because your tracker can't tell
Many forex trackers report raw clicks and registrations as wins. The mistake: no bot/IVT filtering between click and lead, so your CR and EPC are inflated by traffic that will never deposit.
The symptoms:
— High registration rate, near-zero FTD rate, and the broker's quality score on your account quietly dropping.
— A 'great' campaign that the affiliate manager flags for low FTD-to-reg ratio before you notice.
The fix:
— Add an anti-fraud / IVT layer (FraudScore, Anura, or your tracker's built-in click filters) before the registration step, not after the deposit.
— Watch the reg-to-FTD ratio as a fraud signal: if registrations spike but FTDs stay flat, you're being fed fake signups, often from a sub-publisher.
— Cut sub-IDs by FTD quality, not click volume. The loudest source is often the dirtiest.
Who should skip this: direct-buy SEO traffic from your own ranked pages — bot exposure is real but lower than on third-party pop/push inventory.
Verdict: Filter clicks, judge on FTDs.

Bet da Sorte

Trusting the broker panel as your single source of truth
The most common reporting mistake in broker affiliation: running your business off the broker's dashboard and nothing else. The panel is their version of events, optimized for their balance sheet.
Why that fails:
— Panels aggregate and round. 'Net revenue' may already net out chargebacks, bonuses, and a 'quality adjustment' you can't see itemized.
— Some panels under-report during disputes and quietly correct later, after you've made spend decisions on the wrong number.
The fix:
— Keep an independent tracker as your primary ledger; treat the broker panel as a reconciliation source, not the source.
— Demand raw, row-level exports (per-lead, per-deposit) instead of aggregate dashboards. If a broker refuses row-level data, treat that as a risk signal in itself.
— Track three numbers separately: your counted FTDs, their reported FTDs, and your paid FTDs. The gaps between them are your dispute pipeline.
Who should skip this: pure CPA-flat deals on a trusted network where you literally cannot influence the count anyway.
Verdict: Their panel, your ledger.

Optimizing your FTD tool toward deposits instead of retained value
FTD optimization tools let you bid and route toward first deposits. The mistake: making the first deposit the goal, when the broker pays you on what survives.
The trap:
— On revenue-share or hybrid deals, a flood of $10 minimum-deposit FTDs looks like a winning campaign and earns you almost nothing — most never re-fund.
— Your optimizer keeps scaling the cheap-FTD source because its objective is deposit count, blind to second-deposit and 90-day net.
The fix:
— Feed the optimizer a downstream signal: 2nd-deposit rate or D30 net revenue, not just FTD. Most platforms accept a custom conversion event for this — wire it up.
— Set a minimum-deposit floor per source. A source that only produces sub-$50 FTDs gets capped or cut regardless of volume.
— On hybrid deals, weight the CPA portion against the expected rev-share tail per source, not in aggregate.
Who should skip this: pure CPA-flat where every FTD pays the same fixed amount — there, deposit count genuinely is the goal.
Verdict: Optimize for retained, not first.

Ignoring the KYC-rejection black hole between FTD and payout
A lead deposits, you count the FTD, then the broker rejects KYC and the deposit reverses. The mistake: not tracking KYC pass-rate as a first-class metric, so you discover the loss only at payout.
Where it hides:
— Certain GEOs and traffic sources produce deposits that systematically fail document verification (mismatched names, unsupported ID types, sanctioned regions).
— Your dashboard shows the FTD; the reversal lands days later in a different report you don't watch.
The fix:
— Get the broker to send a KYC-status event (passed/pending/rejected) to your tracker, not just a deposit event. If they can't, demand a weekly KYC-outcome CSV.
— Segment KYC pass-rate by GEO and sub-ID. A source with a 60% KYC pass rate is worth far less than one at 95%, even at the same FTD price.
— Hold a 'confirmed FTD' status that only flips after KYC clears, and report on that, not raw FTDs.
Who should skip this: brokers that pay on validated-FTD only — they've already absorbed this risk into the price.
Verdict: Track KYC pass-rate explicitly.

Running browser-pixel conversion tracking with no server-side fallback
Forex funnels lose conversions to the same gaps as everyone else — ad blockers, ITP cookie limits, cross-device gaps — but the stakes are higher because FTDs are large. The mistake: relying on a single client-side pixel with no S2S backup.
What leaks:
— Safari/ITP caps cookie life, so a lead who registers today and deposits next week is untracked.
— Mobile-app-to-desktop journeys (common in forex: app signup, desktop funding) break the pixel entirely.
— Ad blockers eat 15-25% of pixel fires on tech-savvy trading audiences specifically.
The fix:
— Run S2S postbacks as primary and the pixel as supplementary, not the reverse. The broker's server tells the truth; the browser is best-effort.
— Pass a durable click ID through to the broker at registration and have them echo it back on deposit, so attribution survives cookie loss.
— Reconcile pixel vs. postback counts monthly; a widening gap means your pixel is degrading.
Who should skip this: networks that mandate their own S2S and forbid pixels — you're already on the safer rail.
Verdict: Server-side primary, pixel backup.
