Right now Law enforcements and emergency crews are on the scene after a Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agent lost their life due to an inadvertent shooting by another agent incident occurred during a routine training exercise at the Federal Correctional Institution. Authorities said the agent was immediately taken to the hospital to be treated for the injury. The agent passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital. The FBI will be investigating

HI National Guard is rather limited.

It has several aviation units, an Engineer unit, an Infantry brigade, and a small cavalry unit (ceremonial?), and a Band unit.

FEMA folks are less skilled than a Boy Scout troop, and less mature.

Since they’re trained in government corruption and guarding prison camps, their combat skills can’t match the Marines.

The 25th Infantry Division is stationed on the Big Island and US Marines are stationed near Honolulu with the Navy. They’re always ready to deploy - except when they’re ordered not to, as in Benghazi!

Moving them to Maui would take about an hour.

Federal troops have traditionally been deployed to assist in disasters.

US Military Police from Ft Bragg were sent to Washington DC to maintain order when violence, murder, burning and looting erupted after MLK was murdered.

SOF troops patrolled Florida after the recent hurricane and arrested some looters who wore FEMA badges and guns.

Local Sheriffs encouraged homeowners to shoot looters - which Somme did (looting then stoped)

They established order with fixed bayonets, eliminating several very aggressive rioters.

Press reports from Maui make little sense, unfortunately.

In 1968, General McChristian (then Army Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence)
had Army Engineers conduct a study of water sources in AZ before he moved the Intel center from Ft Holabird in Baltimore to Ft Huachuca near Tucson.

The engineers discovered the Aquifer and created an infrastructure structure by which the aquifer could be replenished by rain and groundwater rather than wasting rainfall by sending it to the ocean.

In 1969, Senator Goldwater arranged for DOD to support this project with funding and Army Engineers.
