Meaning   We strive towards the dream of a happy and fulfilled life because deep down we know it is possible to achieve this. And here we see this offered to us. The central belief of DruidCraft is that all of life is based upon love, as depicted in the love of the God and Goddess, or the twin aspects of deity. Love and the joy it brings are not delusions, or transient states of happiness that occur randomly amid a sea of experience. Love represents our true natural state – our source and our inheritance. As such, it is by definition a permanent state, not a temporary one, real not delusional. Finding this card in a reading is immensely auspicious, particularly if it appears in a spread in a culminating position that indicates the result of a situation or question.

The rainbow on the card signifies the fulfilment of a promise and the way in which life is truly magical. Dreams really can come true; you can be blessed with good fortune, success, and a warm, loving family. Significantly, rainbows appear after it has rained, as dark skies or storm clouds recede. You may well have earned this time – the storm is over and the indications are that the positive situation will endure. Any personal relationships suggested by this card are liable to be loving and permanent, and the happiness indicated is likely to signify both spiritual and emotional blessings.

Reverse meaning   Problems at home or in a relationship are suggested here. You may have to leave home or relocate, or a relationship may end. The King of Wands is the ideal person to be in charge of an organization. He can hold the vision, and inspire others to co-operate with him with his enthusiasm and optimism. His natural ability to be a leader, combined with his affinity for the element of Fire, and hence dragons, reminds us of the Pendragon of Arthurian legend, and of Druid ritual.

A person with this King’s character is often lively and amusing, freedom-loving and ambitious. He makes a passionate lover, but partners must be aware of his longing for freedom. Just as fire needs air to breathe, a King of Wands needs wide open spaces in his love life and in his physical surroundings. Decisive and strong-willed, he can be unsympathetic towards others’ negativity or weakness, since he experiences these feelings so rarely. His strong will makes him good at forging a long-term career, though his dynamic nature, dislike of routine and love of challenge will often make him eager to rush off to seek new adventures.

Meaning   If not denoting a person, the card may signify a windfall or negotiations, particularly around financial arrangements associated with marriage or divorce. Alternatively, it can refer to property settlements, charities, trusts, or arts-project funding. It can also indicate that you need to express your ideas, make important decisions, set goals, or seek a guiding vision.
