A phone-filmed clip that outsold the studio ad
Here's a case that humbles big budgets. A beauty brand paid for a glossy studio video. It got sales at $19 each.
— First, they asked a customer to film a plain review on her phone (this is UGC = User Generated Content, meaning everyday people, not brands, make the video).
— Next, they ran that messy clip as a Spark Ad.
The homemade version brought sales at $8.50, less than half the cost.
Why? On TikTok, people scroll past 'ads' but stop for real faces and real rooms.
The lesson: relatable beats polished, almost every time.
Try this: ask one happy customer to film 20 honest seconds. Don't worry if it looks plain, that's the point.

Testing one thing at a time finally found the winner
Let me share a tidy testing story. A seller kept changing video, caption, and audience all at once, then couldn't tell what worked.
— First, she froze everything and changed only the caption across 3 ads.
— Caption A got clicks at $0.60. Caption B at $0.44. Caption C at $0.71.
— Now she knew, clearly, that B's wording won.
Then she repeated this with just the thumbnail.
Why? If you change three things, a win tells you nothing.
The lesson: change one variable, learn one clear answer.
Try this: pick a single element, caption or hook, and test only that this week. One question at a time, that's how you build real knowledge.

A retargeting ad that brought back window-shoppers
Here's a gentle case about second chances. A shoe store had lots of people viewing products but not buying.
— First, they built a Custom Audience of site visitors (retargeting = showing ads to people who already visited but didn't buy).
— Next, they ran a simple 'still thinking about it?' video to just those 9,000 people.
— They added a small discount in the caption.
That warm audience bought at $5.40, versus $14 from brand-new viewers.
Why? Reminding interested people is far cheaper than convincing strangers.
The lesson: your warmest buyers are often people who already visited once.
Try this: build one audience of recent site visitors and show them a friendly reminder. Easy first retargeting step.

Spotting tired creative before it drained the budget
Let's learn to read a warning sign. A toy seller had a winning video for 3 weeks, then sales quietly got pricier.
— Cost per sale crept from $8 to $15 over 5 days, with the same ad.
— First, they checked frequency (frequency = how many times the average person has seen your ad).
— It had climbed to 4.2, meaning people were tired of it.
— Next, they swapped in 3 fresh videos.
Cost per sale fell back to $9 within days.
The lesson: even great ads wear out as people see them again and again.
Try this: watch your frequency, and when it passes about 2.5 to 3, prepare a fresh video. Plan ahead, no panic.
