🤫 ALL QUIET: There are four sunspots on the sun today. All four have stable magnetic fields unlikely to explode. NOAA forecasters say there is a 5% chance of M-class flares and no more than 1% chance of X-flares on Oct. 31st.

FARSIDE EXPLOSION: Something just exploded on the farside of the sun. The blast hurled a CME into space during the late hours of Oct. 31st. Take a look at this movie, which shows the CME as well as Venus (left) and Mercury (right). SOLAR FLARE AND RADIO BLACKOUT: Sunspot AR3141 exploded on Nov. 7th (0011 UT), producing an impulsive M5-class solar flare. Radiation ionized the top of Earth's atmosphere and caused a shortwave radio blackout over the South Pacific, including part of Australia and all of New Zealand: map.
