The last 4 months have been the lowest points of my life so far, complete loss of self, it's embarrassing. I should have refrained from trying to communicate with people because I didn't have the valor to make any sense or be understood, yet I still wanted to be part of the world so I forced myself. A huge mistake. Such a lonely moment now. I have to feel like I need to apologize for speaking, because I do honestly. Can't subject people to this mood, fix yourself before becoming part of the world.
It's my channel so sometimes I'll get personal if i want... Important to remember these moments are temporary
But really the loneliness of not understanding myself, not being able to articulate my unorganized thoughts [and honestly not even wanting to but trying to force it to have a connection] = people unable to understand me and start viewing me differently, rightfully so. starts to hurt really hard. Just too lonely.

TIL Bronze is still somewhat relevant to engineering far after its age because it has an oxidized surface layer that's kind of viscous and provides some built in friction reduction on rotating components (patina). It makes lubricant and the oxide will redeposit over the course of the next turn even if a gear tooth plastically depressed it enough to abrade it! The oxide layer is sacrificial, it gets dented or scraped off but reforms over time (like how aluminum self-heals with a new oxide layer). It seems this process takes a bit, I wonder what the maximum RPM is, but I think there might be an anticompetitive relation. Higher rpm, lower forces. Bronze is soft and that's what it can take. No behemoths here because the torque generated will tear the tooth off the root. Gears are such an interesting case to select metals for since the stress situation at the very tooth will kind of be the same for the same module. It's only when you zoom out and look at the torque it's different. Because of the involute curve, contact is almost always concentrated to one point during the turn, directed normally into the tooth. So I thought the normal stress situation is the sameish w/ort gear ratio, but I guess with Hertzian contact the softness of the metal does matter
Pros at Low RPM:
-Softness allows conformal contact (spreads load over larger area).
-Oxide layer reduces friction better than hard steels.
Cons at High RPM:
-Plastic deformation accumulates → Tooth profile degrades (loses precision).
-Adhesive wear "galling" if oxide layer fails.
