I started reading Russian literature early on in my life, at 12 starting with chekhov, a little too young to understand the magnitude of their philosophies but the language was a fairytale in itself, I fully escaped in them, and they had great humor.
I read crime and punishment at 20 and it activated a spiritually idle part of my heart so gravely I didn't look at myself the same anymore. I've almost read all his books now, and I'm still shocked by the genius of it all and the thought of rereading his stories still follows with excitement. I felt every emotion in his characters like it was my own. every passionate moment. I couldn't imagine what drove him to write the way he did, it was something remarkably painful and human. One of the best things that happened to me was gaining access to Russia's greatest, I really relate to their existentialism and how they explain the world. It's the closest thing I've felt to ecstasy reading a novel. I get a strange feeling like we were old friends meeting again, and we spend hours and hours talking about these stories until nothing is left unsaid.. until we meet again. A Scorpio (jyetsa) sun, and Sagittarius mula ascendant like me. Scorpio will not rest until every layer is peeled, every detail is exposed with refined elucidated perfection. Theyre comfortable swimming in murky shadows until they've reached the end, levitating in darknessβthe truth. Only someone with that courage can emerge and lay out one of the greatest philosophical studies of human psychology ever written. Such a gift to people like me.
