Wall Street recorded its steepest decline since the onset of the Iran conflict, as fading hopes for a diplomatic resolution weighed heavily on investor sentiment.

The S&P 500 fell 1.7%, putting it on track for a fifth consecutive weekly loss, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 1%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq led losses, sliding 2.4%.

TRUMP ON IRAN

Donald Trump said Iran has an opportunity to permanently abandon its nuclear ambitions and pursue a different path forward, warning that failure to do so would prompt continued U.S. military action.

He added that, in the absence of an agreement, the United States would intensify its operations, stating that strikes would continue if Iran does not change course.
