Have you ever seen meat labeled at the grocery store as just โMeatโ
Itโs a mystery if itโs chicken, beef, pork or a thing else. Itโs just โMeatโ
The store is in Anahuac, Texas
Believe it or not, itโs 100% legal to label meat this way. A generic label like is acceptable to sell in Texas, you donโt need to specify the type of meat

A man in Africa shared a video of himself cutting down a massive reportedly 1,500-year-old baobab tree so he could use the wood to build his house.
Baobabs are often called โthe Tree of Lifeโ, some are among the oldest living organisms on Earth.
Itโs wild to think a tree thatโs been standing since before the fall of the Roman Empire is now being turned into building material.

KRISPY KREME DONUTS UNDER FIRE OVER ULTRA-PROCESSED INGREDIENTS AND HEALTH CONCERNS
Americans routinely buy a dozen donuts at Krispy Kreme, but critics are warning about whatโs inside. The Original Glazed donut is considered ultra-processed, with each donut containing about 190 calories, 11g of fat, 5g saturated fat, and roughly 20% sugar by weight. Ingredients include enriched wheat flour, palm and soybean oils, sugar, yeast, soy flour, egg yolks, dough conditioners like mono- and diglycerides, cellulose gum, maltodextrin, preservatives, and natural and artificial flavors. Concerns focus on refined and bleached flour stripped of fiber, seed and palm oils labeled by critics as inflammatory, artificial colors like Red 40 in flavored varieties, GMO-derived components, and added emulsifiers and preservatives used to extend shelf life. Health advocates argue consumers should be fully aware of what theyโre eating before making it a daily habit.

Studies Detect PFAS โForever Chemicalsโ in Popular Contact Lenses
Recent testing of 18 popular soft contact lens brands, including Acuvue, Alcon, and CooperVision, reportedly found detectable levels of organic fluorideโan indicator of PFASโin every sample. Independent lab analysis showed concentrations ranging from about 105 ppm to over 20,000 ppm, with some researchers describing certain lenses as heavily fluorinated materials. A 2024 peer-reviewed study also found that U.S. young adults who wear contact lenses had higher measured PFAS levels in their blood compared to non-users, suggesting potential real-world exposure pathways. PFAS chemicals are widely studied for their persistence in the environment and possible links to long-term health risks, including immune effects and other chronic conditions.

Big Chocolate Moves to Lab-Grown and Gene-Edited Cocoa
Americaโs chocolate aisle is facing two major shifts: lab-grown cocoa and genetically modified cacao using gene-editing. California Cultured is growing cocoa cells in tanks, and itโs not aloneโLindt, Mondelez (Cadbury, Oreos, Toblerone), and Barry Callebaut are investing in lab-grown cocoa and cocoa butter. Barry Callebaut, a key supplier to Hershey and Nestlรฉ, plays a major role in the industryโs supply chain. Meanwhile, Mars, maker of M&Mโs, Snickers, Twix, Milky Way and more, has partnered with a UC Berkeley lab tied to CRISPR technology to edit cacao genes for disease and drought resistance. With global demand rising 3% annually, 70% of cocoa coming from drought-stricken West Africa, and 30โ40% of crops lost to pests and disease, companies are turning to lab cultivation and genetic modificationโraising concerns about long-term safety and consumer transparency as these products move closer to store shelves.

Dr. Dawn Michael says she used to soak strawberries in baking soda thinking it would remove pesticide residue, but now believes it does not help. She claims Americaโs main strawberry brand, Driscollโs, uses up to 371 chemical pesticides, including substances described as mosquito spray and carcinogens. She also says the berries are lab-engineered clones, treated in fungicide baths, bleached with chlorine, and sealed in plastic so tightly that washing cannot remove residue. She adds that chemicals may seep into the fruitโs flesh and says a scan using the Totsy app showed high levels.

VIRAL VIDEO OF FARM WORKERS IN PROTECTIVE GEAR SPARKS DEBATE OVER PESTICIDE USE ON STRAWBERRIES
A viral video showing agricultural workers wearing full chemical protective suits while spraying strawberry fields has sparked widespread online concern about pesticide use in food production. The footage has fueled debate over whether commonly consumed produce is safe, with critics pointing to the high level of protection used during spraying as evidence of potential risk, while others argue that such gear is standard safety equipment required when handling regulated agricultural chemicals. The discussion has also revived public attention on pesticide residue concerns in fruits like strawberries and broader questions about food safety regulations and long-term health effects.

SUNGLASSES AND SKIN CANCER DEBATE GOES VIRAL ONLINE
A viral post attributed to Andreas Moritz says that wearing sunglasses blocks full-spectrum sunlight from reaching the eyes, which it claims disrupts hormone signals linked to melanin production and the bodyโs natural protection from sunlight. The post argues that reduced light exposure to the eyes affects how the body responds to sunlight and claims this is connected to rising skin cancer rates, while encouraging direct exposure to morning sunlight instead of sunglasses.

VIRAL CLAIMS ABOUT โMEAT GLUEโ IN STEAKS SPARK FOOD QUALITY DEBATE IN THE U.S.
A wave of online posts is raising concerns among consumers about the texture of some store-bought and restaurant steaks, with claims that processed โrestructuredโ meat products may be behind reports of unusually soft or mushy consistency. The discussion centers on enzyme-based binders sometimes used in the food industry to combine smaller cuts of meat into uniform portions to reduce waste and cost, which critics refer to as โmeat glue,โ while food safety authorities classify approved uses of such additives as regulated and permitted under federal guidelines. The debate has grown online as consumers question labeling transparency and differences in texture between whole cuts and processed steak products.

TICK ACTIVITY AND LYME DISEASE CASES REPORTEDLY RISING ACROSS MULTIPLE U.S. REGIONS
Reports across the U.S. indicate increased tick activity and rising Lyme disease cases in parts of the Northeast, Upper Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic regions, including states such as Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Health data and local monitoring programs in several areas have shown higher tick submissions and increased ER visits for tick bites during peak season. Public health agencies continue to advise precautions in wooded and grassy areas, as tick populations and disease transmission risk vary by region and environmental conditions.

RECYCLED POLYESTER CLOTHING UNDER SCRUTINY OVER MICROPLASTIC AND CHEMICAL EXPOSURE
Recycled polyester used in clothing is primarily made from PET plastic such as discarded bottles, which are processed into fibers for activewear, underwear, and everyday garments. While labeled โrecycled,โ it remains a synthetic petroleum-based material and typically undergoes additional chemical treatments including dyes, finishes, and performance coatings. Research cited in recent discussions notes that both virgin and recycled polyester can shed microplastics during use and washing, with some studies suggesting recycled fibers may release higher amounts of smaller particles. The topic continues to raise questions about long-term environmental and skin-contact impacts of synthetic textiles.
