every single conversation about gun control I've ever had be like (CW transphobia)
- Them: "No civilian needs a gun ever!"
- Me: "I live in a jurisdiction that recognizes the trans panic defense. I can literally get murdered for existing in public and then my murderer would get off with a lighter sentence by whining about how 'disgusting' I look and how he had to put me out of his misery."
- Them: "just call the cops you dumb commie troon I hope you 41% lmao cope harder"

if they don't go like that, they go like this:
- Them: "Weapons of war don't belong on our streets!"
- Me: "Stop giving them to cops, then."
- Them: "But they need them to combat the crime wave! You know, the totally real crime wave that actually happened and totally wasn't just police manufacturing consent for giving them more money! And also there's terrorists!"
- Me: "But do they need grenades, armored cars, rocket launchers, machine guns, and shit like that?"
- Them: "Those are largely defensive, unlike your precious AR-15 assault babykiller weapons who can't fight the government but are only suited for military use."

Hey Solarpunk people, I'd like to ask for a little bit of support. Bear with me, I'll explain:
TL;DR Project is to breed a free variety of Rye. They need 30,000 Euros for funding, but have only 23,000 so far. Deadline is June 3rd, 2022. π±
Link: https://www.startnext.com/en/roggen
Many seeds that are commercially available are controlled by a single company - no one may grown them on their own, but have to pay every year. These companies are heaviliy concentrated capitalist enterprises. If farmers can't pay the seeds, they can't grow food, and prices rise even higher. π°
Open Source Seeds take an idea from software (free licenses) to achieve the opposite: Create seeds that are (and will be forever) free to use, remix and grow on your own, wherever you are. To me personally, this serves one of the main ideas in Solarpunk: Food autonomy. π
This special project tries to free one staple crop, Rye (used for bread, beer, vodka, ...) in the temperate climate. The organization OpenSourceSeeds was successful at freeing Tomatoes, Maize, Potatoes and Wheat out of their own pocket, and are now trying to do crowdfunding to free more species, faster. π€
If you find this a good idea in general, please visit the organisation's website, and think of ways to start or support your own open source breeding projects: π€
https://opensourceseeds.org/en/Find%20varieties
If you also think this is a good idea in particular, please consider to pledge a few Euros towards the goal (withdrawn only on success of the whole funding) and spread the word about the campaign:

A rye that belongs to all of us
Seed as commons and available for all enables diversity and self-determination. We are financing a free rye variety β and that's just the beginning.
