I just wanna point out that 80k people died of flu in 2018 in the US and nobody fucking noticed, everyone got it because our work culture is such that a wage worker can't effectively access healthcare and even if they can they typically don't have adequate paid sick leave that they're not going to be hopped up on dayquil and snotting on all the food, product, and cash they handle during the most contagious exponential growth phase of the virus. The only reason Corona is a meme is because news media makes its money selling fear, and the fear is of filthy, overpopulated, bat-soup sipping asians instead of industrialized people with better hygiene than most of us do, especially considering their country has slipped further into an authoritarian state driven by the will of capitalists than we have.

China is our fucking future in the US and short of zoomers actually fucking eating the rich we can look forward to young people in cages coughing as an affordable lifestyle choice for most working citizens, as opposed to just refugees.

One must consider that biohazard suit memes are fun, but ultimately driven by xenophobic fearmongering not just in the news, but the grassroots (4chan /pol/)
