Hi Students
Usually i don't suggest important topics for prelims coz I firmly believe that it's not my domain. However, I would like to mention 4-5 topics which, I feel, could be asked this year (Keeping PYQs in perspective).
✅Critical minerals (Application)
✅Global Biofuel Alliance.
✅ONDC
✅SOFR (Secured overnight financing rate).
✅PM-PRANAM (a question on fertilizers)

All the students must have their own short notes for Sociology.
In case, you don't have them with you, prepare them before the results are out. The 2.5 week window should be utilised only and only for sorting Ethics and Sociology.
Those who have read only nitin Sangwan and scoring 220s, they need to change their strategy. Make the best possible use of this time.
Einstein once said , ' Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results'.

Hello students
It was getting difficult for me to address queries in DM, so I thought I should address all of you in one go.
Please remember a few things.
Every attempt is a fresh attempt. Some of you may have scored 220s to 240s in previous year, but the examiner who will check your copy this year doesn't know your previous score.
To him, you are just another candidate who is writing mains. You may be an IPS/IRS or someone in his/her last attempt, but to the examiner you are just a candidate.
Therefore, we should stick to the basic rules of the game.
Basic rules
1) cover static multiple times and strengthen your weak areas in static (like research methods, work & economy, unit 2- socio as science, non positivist methodologies, social change and agents like media, technology and education).
2) have your own short notes of these topics
3) break the question into parts. Identify the master keyword.
4) start the answer with master keyword. Introduce subheads.
5) do not write anything other than what is asked.
6) do not give one full page to criticism unless demanded in the question. Some people unnecessarily write critique for 1 to 1.5 page even in questions like ' Explain the significance of historical materialism'.
The question is not demanding criticism. You may write 3-4 points at Max in the end, but not 1 to 1.5 pages.
7) do not think of filling the pages. (Last year upsc cut down 4 pages to 3 pages- a clear signal that pages fill karna is not what they are looking for)
8) write basic examples (don't think that writing example from the month of September 2024 or August 2024 will get you more marks than someone writing examples from general observation and contemporary events)
9) Examiners unconsciously go into nitty gritties of your answer writing details like font size, spacing, indexing, subheading, flow, and presentation etc. Working on these will help you more than working on adding scholars.
10) Please stick to writing answers in 3 hours only (whether writing at home or at centre).
11) After evaluation, visit the centre or try to show me your copy.
12) work on the feedback (if necessary ) and only then attempt the next test.
Thank you

Some clear patterns and commentary :
1) Paper 1 score 130-140
Paper 2 score 100-120
This indicates that you are sticking to demand in paper 1 but trying to overcome the lack of knowledge in paper 2 static by throwing jargons & overtheorization. Concealing your weakness in paper 2 by showing your paper 1 strength will not help.
2) Paper 1 score - 90- 120
Paper 2 score - 130-150
This clearly shows that you are writing your accumulated knowledge and multiple/unnecessary dimensions in paper 1 (may be because you are emotionally & academically attached to paper 1).
This also means you are writing your notes (and not answer) in paper 1.
On the other hand, you know only basic in paper 2, and this is actually helping you.
Conclusion: writing simple helps.

Tomorrow we are releasing our first video on Sociology crash course & answer writing sessions. We will try to compare answers of this year's toppers to explain what is actually working in the exam.
We have observed common patterns in all those who scored 280+.
Topic: Wardah khan (AIR 18) vs Saloni Chhabra(AIR 29) : What's working in Sociology ✅

Toppers answer copy analysis video coming tomorrow
Hi students
One important suggestion:
Don't refer to any PYQ book for Sociology or GS. If you really want to refer to anything, it should be only Toppers copies. Nothing else.
Why not refer to any Book ?
There is a huge difference between Answer and notes, even greater difference between Perfect answer and Feasible answer, and greatest difference between "130-150 handwritten words possible in 7-8 minutes" and 2-3 printed pages which "can't be reproduced even in 20 minutes by hand".
Most of the PYQ books will give you 'extra content' and not 'feasible answer', and more often than not, PYQ books may take away the 'first attempt simplicity & innocence' from your answer.
Conserve the innocence and simplicity. It's easy to write difficult but very difficult to write simple.
