🔥Grand Initiative & an Open Meet Up for Sociology Freshers for the year 2025
As someone who has gone through the process, we understand that the sheer magnitude of the syllabus, the intense competition, and lack of personalised guidance from seniors can often make it feel like a solitary battle. It's easy to feel alienated and exhausted amidst the sea of books, notes, and practice tests.
Keeping this in perspective, I have decided to mentor Sociology optional freshers for year 2025 under our initiative *“Class struggle”*
*What's this initiative all about?*
We will divide students into 4 teams.
☑️Ambedkar’s Advocates
☑️Marx’s Mavericks
☑️Weber’s Warriors
☑️Gandhi's Guardians
✅Each team will be assigned a mentor (Total 4 mentors are there: Nishat Sir, Wardah Khan-AIR 18, Anurag Chopra-AIR 210, and Prakhar-AIR 275)
✅Each team will have a max strength of *50 students*
✅Each mentor will help you in your preparation for Sociology through standardised tools like *Progress Assessment Card* & *Bi-monthly strategic sessions*
✅Each mentor & team will compete against the other team for the course of the next 3-4 months. This will help all of us stay motivated and directed towards our goal. *#Cozconflictcanbefunctionaltoo*
✅Expected outcome: playful competition, cooperation, consistency, confidence & eventually choice of service.
✅Read the *Brochure* for details and the *Free registration form*

Thank you so much for the great response. We have received over 200 entries. We can't accommodate more than 300 students. So we will close the form soon.
Old model of mentorship: Mentors guiding the students. It was vertical and cooperative.
New model of mentorship:
Mentors compete against each other to guide the students best. This is horizontal & competitive.
Motto: Mentors compete, students perform.
Thanks once again 😊

Ok so I will be very honest here.
I have used MN Srinivas's concept of Horizontal & vertical solidarity here.
In his study of coorg, he coined these 2 terms:
Vertical solidarity : when upper & lower caste were interdependent on each other due to jajmani relationship or exchange of goods & services.
Horizontal solidarity : When people of the same caste form an association/party and compete against another caste association. We see that today in caste politics.
Actually this transition from vertical to horizontal solidarity was possible due to modern education and power as a resource becoming open to everyone through electoral democracy.
There is no caste cooperation today, it's sheer caste conflict. That gave me this idea of horizontal model of mentorship.
Weird connection.
Sociology of Humor says humor lies in honesty 🙂.
