Advance estimates for 2Q 2024 indicate that on a quarter-on-quarter seasonally-adjusted basis, the economy expanded by 0.4%, slightly faster than the 0.3% expansion in 1Q 2024.

In 2023, the number of marriages registered decreased 3.7% compared to 2022. Except for fluctuations in the number of marriages observed between 2020 and 2022 arising from disruptions in marriage plans due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of marriages between 2014 and 2023 was broadly stable overall. The number of divorces & annulments rose 0.2% The number of divorces & annulments rose 0.2% between 2022 and 2023.

Marriage dissolution rates before the 10th marriage anniversary fell among the 2006 to 2012 resident marriage cohorts compared to the 2005 cohort.

Business Expectations of the Services Sector
20% of firms in the services sector are upbeat about business conditions while 7% of firms foresee deteriorating business conditions, resulting in a net weighted balance of 13% of firms expecting a more favourable business outlook for the period of Jul – Dec 2024.

Business Expectations of the Manufacturing Sector
25% of firms in the manufacturing sector expect business conditions to improve while 2% foresee a weaker business outlook, resulting in a net weighted balance of 23% of firms anticipating an improved business situation for the period of Jul – Dec 2024.
