Imām al-Mawṣilī (599 – 683 AH) states:
A woman acting as a qāḍī is valid (yajūz) in those issues in which her testimony is accepted. However, it is makrūh (taḥrīman) as it entails speaking with men, whereas her affair is grounded in (the principle of) concealment. (al-Ikhtiyār (Dār al-Risālat al-‘Ālamiyyah), 2:204)
