I think what this story actually illustrates and proves is that Islām isn’t even being taught properly in the first place. This is just one of thousands of examples.

Someone who contemplates leaving Islām because “a Muslim was mean 😢” is probably not even really a Muslim to begin with. And the proposed takeaway from this incident is… “If you aren’t nice to Muslims, they will leave Islām”??? How about we address the ACTUAL takeaway here: We need to TEACH these people Islām rather than encourage everyone around them to coddle them, just so they can continue to CLAIM the LABEL of Muslim.

If one believes in Islām because they believe it is the truth fi nafs al amr, with yaqīn, and that they are obligated to believe in it for their salvation, and that it is their purpose for existing (all of these are required beliefs for Imān to be valid in the first place btw), how does one then contemplate leaving it all for a random, petty, childish, illogical and idiotic reason?

For such an idea to even cross one’s mind, the person must lack an understanding of basics. They have a severely flawed understanding of Islām and the Islamic worldview. THAT is the real problem here. And our community “leaders” are the ones to blame.

Daʿwah has been done incorrectly for decades now. Rather than approaching the concept of truth as something objective, it has become this game of trying to appeal to people’s desires. And even worse is the way Islām is being taught to Muslims, which is just an emotional and reactionary response to the west’s ideological onslaught. An onslaught that could have EASILY been neutralized and dealt with if we had competent leaders who handled these issue PROPERLY.

Statements like:
“Islām gave women rights before the west”.
“Islām emphasizes being kind to people”.
“Islām means peace”. (It doesn’t btw)
“Islām abolished slavery”. (It didn’t btw)
“Islām [insert fiqh issue that is actually differed upon but choose the one that is in-line with western/feminist/modernist sensibilities and present it as the ONLY position]”.

These tactics have indirectly made Muslims believe that “for something to be true, it needs to be in accordance with what I want and what I like”, which are almost entirely dictated by western indoctrination. Anything that goes against this false criterion then becomes some type of “disqualifier of truth” in their minds. Essentially, the discourse has devolved into the worship of one’s desires and the worship of western ideologies.

Surely, even someone with below average intellect can understand: When your ideological opponent is the west, who build their “morality” on the worship of their desires and feelings, you can never win this battle by agreeing TO THEIR CRITERIA. But that is EXACTLY what one is effectively doing as soon as they start watering down the Dīn to appease people who are ideologically influenced by the west…

And rather than clarify and correct these horrible mistakes, “scholars” continue to double down with their apologetics and sometimes even outright lie against the Dīn, all in the name of “preventing apostasy”. In reality, their distortions are weakening the Muslims on every level, and people are STILL leaving the Dīn, they just simply aren’t aware that they are (because yes, someone can leave the folds of Islām without knowing or intending to, and this is more prominent today than ever due to kufr beliefs that have become widespread due to emotional and ideological reasons).

Nothing has done more damage to the Ummah than this worship of people’s desires and feelings. We need to teach the Dīn objectively as THE TRUTH. Only when we fully grasp this will we be able to work towards becoming strong again. If Muslims became completely grounded in Islām, as a comprehensive belief system and worldview, we would be unstoppable.

The comments I received (on X/Twitter) do not only prove every single point that I made in the post, but also serve as further evidence that the majority of you people struggle with comprehension and critical-thinking, and deeply lack the ability to think objectively.

Wait until you find out there were major scholars who had similar arrangements lol.

There are women in certain circumstances that do prefer such an arrangement. And I find it so funny that most of the people who are triggered by this incident are people whose whole personality on here is anti-tradition, anti-patriarchy, and anti-traditional gender roles. You people just look for anything you can use to justify some public outcry. Grow up.

If a woman was to agree to the arrangement, then what? She was manipulated? 🤣 Again, the same people throwing a tantrum here are the same people who get enraged at how “restricted” women are according to traditional fiqh. Are women capable of making their own decisions? Or are they easily manipulated and therefore cannot be given the freedom and autonomy to make their own choices? Which one is it?

“It is disrespectful to divorcees and single mothers!”

On what basis? Are we going to deny that the dynamic is going to be different? A divorced single mother with kids will not be able to have the same arrangement as a young virgin woman being married for the first time. Yes, naturally, the circumstances of a person will impact the way in which another person is willing to commit to them… Just like a woman will not want to marry a man who isn’t financially stable… You people are genuinely so dense.

Divorced women have desire too btw. And when they have kids to take care of, and don’t have the emotional availability or time to commit to a full marriage, such an arrangement can be beneficial for them.

The brain is capable of WONDERS if you learn to turn off your “feelings” and think rationally. You people should try it.
