This guy got hit with an address poisoning scam and sent 1,155 Wrapped Bitcoin (~$70 million) to a wrong lookalike address on May 3, 2024.
Instead of accepting defeat, he sent a message directly on the blockchain with an offer:
“You won bro.
Keep 10% ($7M) to yourself and get 90% ($63M) back.
Then we’ll forget about that.
We both know that 7m will definitely make your life better, but 70m won’t let you sleep well.”
The scammer initially ignored the offer, converted most of the WBTC to ETH, and later returned nearly everything – about 22,960 ETH (~$65.7 million at the time) after negotiations.
