Mining is the security engine of Bitcoin.

Miners do three critical things:
🔸 Verify transactions
🔸 Bundle them into blocks
🔸 Compete to add the next block to the blockchain

🔍 What Are Miners Actually Solving?
They modify a value called a nonce until the resulting hash is lower than a target set by the network.

There is no shortcut.
It’s pure computational competition.

This is Proof of Work.

The first miner to find a valid hash:
🔸 Adds the block
🔸 Receives the block reward
🔸 Collects transaction fees

⚙️ Mining Difficulty

Bitcoin automatically adjusts mining difficulty every 2016 blocks (~2 weeks).

If blocks are found too fast → difficulty increases.
If too slow → difficulty decreases.

This keeps the average block time close to 10 minutes, regardless of total global hash power.

In 2026, mining is dominated by industrial ASIC farms, not personal computers.
🔥 The Halving Mechanism

Bitcoin has a fixed maximum supply:

21,000,000 BTC

Every 210,000 blocks (~4 years), the block reward is cut in half.
