Why humanity needs trade
For centuries, the authors of utopias have tried to imagine a social system in which there would be no place for trade. Such a world seems to many people to be more honest, clean, and fair. A world without margins, intermediaries, speculation, greed… And yet, humanity has not been able to translate any utopia into reality. And attempts to eradicate trade, as the history of the twentieth century has shown, have not led to anything good. There is no way without trading. Why?
- Primitive exchange of goods, practiced in primitive times, is more inconvenient than trading using money. And the more complex the society, the more unrealistic the widespread barter. Try to exchange your labor for products, things and entertainment — do you think it will work?
- The lack of professional traders leads to situations where there is famine in one area, and in another there is an overabundance of grain on the market and low prices that are unprofitable for the producer. A typical picture for the early Middle Ages.
- All modern logistics is the result of the development of trade relations. If you are drinking tea or coffee now, it is only because there is international trade.
- Without trade, not only will factories stand up, but the work of private workshops will be in question. Because the specialization of labor implies the trade exchange of materials and semi-finished products.
- Perhaps someday, thanks to the development of technology, most goods will become so cheap that everyone will be able to take as much as they want from distribution centers. Or even receive copies of goods by clicking a button in your home. But so far, civilization does not have such resources to ensure the communist distribution of benefits without slipping into rations and cards, that is, to poverty for some and special distributors for others.
- Exchanges also appeared for a reason: They help counterparties meet, use complex financial instruments, and influence pricing.
As you can see, from primitive times to the present day, trade is an integral part of civilization. Without trade, humanity will slide into subsistence farming, large-scale production will become impossible, and connections between regions will disappear. A full-fledged alternative to the trading process has not yet been invented.
Therefore, by trading, we do not just earn money. We are helping the global flywheel of civilization to spin.

How many times have you promised from Monday (from the 1st, from the beginning of summer, autumn, winter, spring, from the new year, "as soon as I go on vacation", "right this weekend ...") to start an important activity for you? Which can change your life? Make it better? For example, start running in the morning, engage in self-education, start learning a foreign language, understand derivatives…
Psychologists have noticed that in most cases these plans do not come true. Promises made to oneself are not fulfilled. Another Monday comes — and the beginning of a new life is postponed again. "Tomorrow", by the way, also usually does not work. It only works… Well, try to guess?
... It is said that a thousand years ago, a great sage asked his students the question: "Which day of the week is the most favorable for starting a new business?" The students gave different answers: someone called Monday, someone Tuesday, someone Wednesday... and so on. All seven days of the week were listed. And each time the sage replied, "That's right, it's a beautiful day!" The students were perplexed.
— So every day of the week is suitable for getting down to business? One of them asked.
—Yes,— replied the sage, —but on one condition. If that day is today!
