"I heard the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, say: 'This matter is in the hands of Quraysh, and the caliphate will remain in the hands of Quraysh.'β
From Abu Bakr to the end of the Abbasid Caliphate.. no one but a Qurayshi ever took it away!
Thus, the Saqifah preserved the caliphate for Quraysh, prevented it from falling into the hands of the Ansar, and paved the way for Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him.
