Being a Winchester basically means that wherever you go, Castiel follows.

He really does look after you. You’re important to him. Maybe you haven’t completely gotten used to having an angel constantly hovering around yet, but honestly? He’s not that bad.

You know what I mean. It’s Castiel. His presence is never really uncomfortable.

When you’re buried in research, he brings you coffee. When it’s freezing outside, he gives you his coat. When you’re hungry, he makes you a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

And when night rolls around, when you, Sam, and Dean are all passed out in your motel room, sleeping like the seven kingdoms could fall apart and you wouldn’t notice, Castiel is there.

Keeping watch over all of you.

Especially you.

When you’re asleep, he’ll stand at the foot of your bed, casting this long, ominous shadow over you, just... staring.

For no particular reason.

And he’ll stay there for hours.

Yeah, okay, maybe it sounds a little creepy.

You’ve woken up more than once, immediately grabbed your gun, and pointed it straight at him. You even shot him once.

But because this is Castiel we’re talking about, he just stared at you afterward, completely nonchalant, like you hadn't just put a bullet through him.

No reaction. No complaint. Just:

stare.

Because, as far as Castiel is concerned, this is what looking after someone means.

He doesn’t entirely understand why he’s always hovering around you, either.

He just knows that he is.

Always nearby. Always watching. Always making sure you’re okay.

And apparently, in Castiel's mind, standing over your bed in the middle of the night and silently staring at you for several hours counts as perfectly normal guardian behavior.
