Jon Demeter has been indicted on charges including performance of an abortion and injury to a child after allegedly giving his pregnant girlfriend a drink containing a crushed abortion medication without her knowledge, according to investigators. Authorities say the woman, who was 14 weeks pregnant and had named the unborn child Presley Mae, was later hospitalized with cramping and bleeding following the incident, and prosecutors allege the act was carried out with intent to terminate the pregnancy. The case is now proceeding in Texas courts, where Demeter faces a potential sentence ranging from 5 to 99 years in prison.
