Russia Bans The LGBT Movement As an Extremist Group

Russia's Supreme Court has outlawed the "international LGBT public movement" as an "extremist group" because of its role in causing "social and religious discord."

Over the past few years, Russia has gradually tightened its legislation aimed at countering the spread of “LGBT ideology.” 

In 2013, Russia outlawed the dissemination of LGBT-related propaganda among minors, extending the measure to adults last December.
