Republican Candidate Charged with Child Porn Offenses Hours Before Election

Texas Republican city council candidate Brad Benson is facing felony child pornography charges after being arrested just hours before the election.

Benson remains listed as a councilmember candidate for Place #4 in today's election for city council.

The local Republican Party has pulled its endorsement.

"The executive committee has conferred, spoken with law enforcement, confirmed more substantial information, and unanimously withdraws their support for Mr. Benson," the Republican Party of Hood County said in a statement. "It is time for the justice system to act if Mr. Benson is proven guilty, the punishment needs to be swift and severe."

More than 600 workplace injuries have occurred at the rocket company since 2014, according to Reuters, as well as one previously unreported death.

The injuries included 100 “cuts or lacerations”, 29 broken bones or dislocations, 17 “crushed” hands or fingers, and eight accidents that led to amputations.

The accidents included the death of Lonnie LeBlanc, a SpaceX worker and former US marine, in 2014 - killed when he hit his head on the road after falling from a truck at a SpaceX facility in Texas.
