THE IMPORTANCE OF DRAGONFLY

A single dragonfly can eat hundreds of mosquitoes a day.

The battle against mosquitoes can feel never-ending, especially during warmer months when these pesky insects are at their peak. Apart from being annoying, mosquitoes pose health risks as carriers of diseases such as Malaria, Dengue, and Zika virus.

With this in mind, it’s no wonder that finding an effective way to eliminate mosquitoes is a priority for many people.

Fortunately, nature provides a simple yet efficient solution: the Dragonflies!

These incredible insects can consume hundreds of mosquitoes each day, offering a sustainable method of mosquito control.

If you're tired of using chemical-laden repellent sprays and seeking a more natural way to get rid of mosquitoes, then this article is for you. By attracting dragonflies to your garden or outdoor space, you can significantly reduce the mosquito population around your home. Read on to discover the steps and tips that will turn your yard into a dragonfly haven and create a mosquito-free environment.

Why Dragonflies Are the Best Mosquito Predators
Dragonflies are not just beautiful to look at; they are also voracious mosquito predators. An adult dragonfly can eat up to hundreds of mosquitoes in a single day. Their predatorial skills are unmatched, making them a key player in controlling mosquito populations naturally.

Attracting dragonflies to your backyard is easier than you might think.

Here’s how you can make your garden inviting for these beneficial insects:

1. Build a Pond

Dragonflies lay their eggs in water, so having a pond or water feature in your garden is crucial. It doesn't have to be a large pond; a small one will do. Ensure it has shallow edges and some aquatic plants to mimic a natural habitat.

2. Add Native Plants

Planting native grasses and blooming plants around your pond will provide perching spots for dragonflies to rest and hunt. Native plants are more likely to attract insects that dragonfly larvae feed on, ensuring they have a food source.

3. Avoid Using Pesticides

Pesticides can be harmful to dragonflies. Avoid using chemical pesticides in your garden to create a safe environment for these insects. Instead, focus on natural pest control methods.

4. Install Flat Rocks

Dragonflies love to bask in the sun, and flat rocks provide the perfect surface for them to do so. Place some flat rocks around your pond area to attract sunbathing dragonflies.

5. Keep Water Clean

Dragonflies need clean water for their larvae to thrive. Ensure your pond's water is clear of pollutants and populated with beneficial creatures like aquatic snails that help keep the water clean.
By following these steps, you’ll be well on your way to attracting dragonflies and reducing your mosquito problem naturally.

Not only will you enjoy a more pleasant outdoor experience, but you'll also enhance your garden's ecosystem.

Guys I wanna share some thoughts here😂

Everytime I get my marks/results for exams, I like to think "I didn't do good enough" 😂

Hear me out first okey don't judge too soon and start commenting "Oh it's not good for your mental health bla bla bla" 💀🗣

Personally, with having that kind of mindset, it makes us feel like to do better so that we reach the limit (max). You know, they say Sky's the limit right ?
As if those thoughts will push us harder and help improving our skills.
Anyways, as I was saying, there's always room for improvement. Try to do the best. Try to reach the best. Try to break the records (in a good way of course).

At the end, all of it will be worth it and you'll thank yourself.

No, this isn't a competition against others or any sorts of things like that haha.

This is you 🫵🏻 against YOU 🫵🏻. Be better from yesterday.
If you felt like you've done a lot yesterday, that just means there wasn't much of a progress today.

Improve day by day. Once my school principal said this, "The largest room is the improvement room" 🤩

Anyways, with this kind of mindset (I didn't do good enough) prevents you guys from staying in your 👏 Comfort Zone👏

Yes, the COMFORT ZONE I say. Comfort kills people. Comfort kills progress. Comfort kills improvement. Comfort kills effort. Comfort kills your maximum POTENTIAL

Alright, now comment whatever you want 🥱 share your thoughts below 🤔

Ni pulak some "fails" of the experiment 😂🔥 kenalah buat semula after that huehue🥲

Patutnya dapat purple fumes (Iodine gas) because that salt contains Iodide, I- ions😲💜💨
This one kita just add the "unknown" salt along with concentrated H2SO4, pastu heat it.
Haaa mcm ni la purple fumes 😎💜
Cantik enn?🫣

Ni experiment kimia yg kita buat harini🥹💛 dapat yellow precipitate
Pastu kita nak keringkan dalam oven at 120°C 😝 (ujian amali STPM)
