👩‍🔬Bile is produced in the liver

🧪Bile duct functions to flow the bile produced from the liver into the duodenum

Function of bile*

🪄 emulsify lipids by breaking down lipids into tiny droplets to increase surface area for lipase activity

So, if the bile duct is blocked, the digestion of lipid will be slowed down because bile will not reach the duodenum, lipase activity is not at optimum level

🔬Chapter 11 : Inheritance
🦉11.1 - Monohybrid Inheritance

! IMPORTANT DEFINITIONS and random question😝 !

🦧Definition of Monohybrid Cross
👉🏻Monohybrid inheritance involves inheritance of one characteristic and contrasting traits controlled by a gene.

🦧How are purebreed pea plants produced?
👉🏻Through self-cross plant which have similar traits to that of its parent plant in terms of genetic contents.

! Terms Related to INHERITANCE !
🔬Part 1

🪷Gene
The basic unit of inheritance which consists of a DNA segment located on a specific locus of a chromosome.

🪷Allele
Alternative form of gene for a specific trait that is located on the same locus of a pair of homologous chromosomes.

🪷Characteristics
Heritable feature such as height, eye colour, blood group and presence of dimples.

🪷Trait
Variation of a specific characteristics.

🪷Phenotype
Observable 👀 characteristic of an organism

🪷Genotype
Genetic composition of an organism that can't be seen🙈

🪷Dominant Allele
Allele which ALWAYS shows its trait when it is present, and suppresses the effect of recessive allele.

🪷Recessive Allele
Allele which shows its trait when BOTH alleles are recessive allele.

🔬Part 2

🪷Dominant Trait
Expressed when both alleles are DOMINANT alleles or one dominant allele is paired with a recessive allele.

🪷Recessive Trait
Expressed if a recessive allele is paired with another recessive allele. [Both are recessive]

🪷Homozygote
Both alleles at loci of a pair of homologous chromosomes are the SAME.

🪷Heterozygous
Alleles af loci of a pair of homologous chromosomes are DIFFERENT.

🪷Parental generation
Refers to the FIRST generation of 2 individuals which are mated to predicts or analyse genotypes of their offsprings.

🪷Filial generation
Refers to a SUCCESSIVE generation as a result of mating between individuals of purebreed parental generation.

🪷Purebreed
Refers to individual which carries two identical alleles for a trait.

🪷Hybrid
Product of mating between 2 purebreed varieties.
