dVPN is ending the year with over 35k+ unique users connecting to at least one server through a dVPN application built on Sentinel in the month of December.

The total number of unique users till date is falling shy of the year-end goal of 100k unique users by just under 4000 users.

This goal was established by the community months ago when the number of unique users was sub 50k. The next goal is 1 million unique users by Jan 1 2025

dVPN Node hosts will have to update their node to the latest version in order to be added into the on-chain subscription plans that will power the flagship Sentinel dVPN application.

Please update as soon as possible.

After nodes have completed this update, internal community testing will soon begin.

Sentinel's strength is not a single dVPN application but an ecosystem of applications sharing the same node resources.

More apps, higher stats! 1 million total users before the end of 2024 is the target and the Sentinel ecosystem has the ability to achieve it.

EMERGENCY UPDATE FOR NODES:

All cloud based dVPN nodes will have to set their pricing at 4.16 DVPN.

Feedback after this change will be taken while work is being done on the subscription management engine to properly categorise regions and other attributes.

The 200+ Residential nodes can set their pricing to: 13.7 DVPN/HR.

After 12 PM UTC tomorrow the subscription change will be taken into effect and all cloud nodes above this hourly pricing will be removed from the subscription list.

The goal is to keep the ability to node hosting permissionless while the number of apps and aggregate traffic scales up.

Node hosts in past months have earned a strong amount and have the ability to bear with the changes while proper categorization of nodes takes place. Now with node count crossing 10k the time to properly set node economics in place has come now.

While the goal is to maintain a strong network of dVPN cloud server providers, the goal is to also scale up the Residential node ecosystem and create a marketplace for AI data scraping

Update on Flagship Sentinel dVPN Application:

The flagship application has been completed (back-end/logic) however the launch of the application and the testing process has been delayed as the front-end development of the application has not cleared internal testing (before community testing) and is currently being completely refactored. This application is the first to be built in recent times with a React.js front-end and more experienced resources have been brought on to ensure that there is a fully polished application which has a very smooth touch and feel. The goal is for testing to begin before the 20th of this month.

Other white-label applications continue to roll out with the launch of Breadcrumbs in the coming month + as well as Caishen VPN (a VPN focused on China) launching soon

Sentinel Hub's transaction throughput is a testament to the scalability of the Cosmos-SDK.

The directives for the community are clear - any contributions in these areas will be prioritized. Can use growth DAO chat for discussion and approved initiatives will receive incentives.

1) Residential Nodes - The first residential node subscription has been established and is live, it is not being used by any app but over 50 nodes are being incentivized right now.

Residential nodes are a very important part of our ecosystem, these are the highest quality of nodes which are required by users to bypass filters which can block all other cloud nodes.

The goal is to see multiple residential node related dVPN apps come out that can charge a premium for offering users access to these nodes. In addition to begin providing b2b service offering, preferably targeting data scraping organizations which are using this data to train AI models. Any insight, research and connections on the B2B aspect would be very helpful.

2) Hardware - Hardware in the form of a cheap effective and fully open solution like Raspberry Pi is a subset of the residential node topic however deserves its own section as it is the most practical way of hosting a residential node and is the only way that we can get the residential node pool to scale as people cannot leave their home PC on 24/7 effectively.

We need to get as many people as possible to host a residential node using a Raspberry Pi and they will receive a consistent income of $10 per month and achieve breakeven and profit within the first year 100%. Community led initiatives and ideas in this aspect would be very fruitful.

3) DePin Thought Leadership - DePin is one of the hottest sectors now as the blockchain ecosystem comes full circle and realizes the reason for why it was established in the first place. The core ethos of the blockchain ecosystem is distributed resource networks, and Sentinel has believed in and stuck to this ethos now for 7 years regardless of the hype or lack there of for the DePin ecosystem. Now as destiny has it, as Sentinel is maturing and ready to become a unicorn - the DePin ecosystem has become very strong now.

Sentinel has to get strong thought leadership in the DePin ecosystem, apart from AKT there are very few networks providing real utility with real users. Sentinel has the highest amount of DAU and MAU at this point of time. Helium leads in the amount of infra with 1M hotspots, Sentinel could scale there but the market cap would have to be much higher in order to afford the incentives as Helium has paid out well over $100M of incentives to achieve such a capacity of infra.

There is no DePin network today that is being used by people around the world to the extent that Sentinel is. This is the only distributed resource ecosystem where you can find russians, Chinese, Iranians and every other ethnicity being service providers as well as users.

Sentinel will 100% reach total 1M users this year and cross 100K DAU. Sentinel will be in the top 5 DePin metrics count very consistently. It is our duty to make sure this is highlighted amidst all of the tens of millions of dollars being spent on marketing by other DePin projects with impractical usecases. It is time for war for mind share.

Messari has to acknowledge Sentinel, and so do all of the other DePin research orgs. Sentinel will prepare to pay for research reports and intends to make DePin thought leadership an absolute priority.
