What are Gems in the Solar DVPN app and are they the same as DVPN tokens ?

The answer is very simple

When you top-up your account via in-app purchases, you receive gems. 100 gems = 1 DVPN and vice versa.

When you top-up your DVPN wallet in crypto, your tokens convert to gems automatically. If you decide to interact with your DVPN wallet somehow else (e.g. via Kelpr), you'll see the amount in DVPN tokens again.

Earlier this autumn we released SOLAR dVPN: Community Edition source code for iOS on Github. Today we taking one step further by releasing it for Android too!

The proposal for the new dVPN Hub v0.10.0 upgrade will soon be issued on-chain. This Hub upgrade is a very critical upgrade for the Sentinel ecosystem as it primarily allows for the functioning of smart contracts and also enables the token revenue sharing system (work token).

The command line interface client (CLI) for Sentinel #dVPN on #Windows is now available for release.

This CLI application allows for users to connect to dVPN nodes from their Windows devices and allows for developers to build Windows based $dVPN apps.

The Sentinel upgrade comes live on the Hub within just 3 days!

As mentioned before the new node incentive program will begin with the new upgrade so we should see a sharp increase in the number of community participants and very strong network trajectory again from the month of February

V2Ray Focus:
A very important and big update to make to the Sentinel community is the development focus on V2ray with the completion of the new dedicated network stats server+APIs.

The Sentinel ecosystem has always recognized the importance of the Chinese ecosystem as it is the world's largest userbase of users who require a VPN application on a daily basis. However in the past years the ecosystem was unable to cater to the Chinese ecosystem as the networking protocols that Sentinel had integrated in the past have been restricted from China, these protocols include Wireguard, OpenVPN, Socks5.

The team identified that the protocol V2Ray has been extremely strong in terms of its functionality with Chinese users and the independent community development organization MathNodes has been conducting v2ray server testing with users from our Iranian and Chinese communities and has validated our assumptions. Now the core Sentinel development team is shifting its focus onto integrating the v2ray server with the Sentinel blockchain, the way the Wireguard node is currently integrated.

We hope to see testing of v2ray nodes integrated with the Sentinel chain to begin in the month of February. Now in 2023 Sentinel will be able to execute its strategy of building a strong Chinese ecosystem and providing value to community members based in China

A huge milestone in the journey of the Sentinel ecosystem, the first 'Node Tax' distributions have been made to Sentinel stakers with nearly 400 #dVPN being distributed since the recent chain upgrade.

An API will soon be released for the community to monitor these metrics.

The Sentinel 'Node Tax' is a form of fee-payment made to $dVPN token stakers from the revenue made by #dVPN node hosts in-exchange for their participation in securing the network.

The current tax rate is set at 20% and can be amended through community proposals in the future.

The official release of the Sentinel V2Ray dVPN node is now available and the community can now host nodes on Akash Network's decentralized cloud infrastructure.

dVPN nodes will soon be able to support payment in AKT after a future proposal passes.

Previously, the only networking protocol integrated with the Sentinel Hub was wireguard, which is not compatible with the decentralized instances available on Akash. Hosting on Akash network will be promoted as a superior alternative to hosting on cloud infra such as OVH

White-label applications will be encouraged to indicate on their application front-end whether dVPN nodes are hosted on centralized cloud providers or not by using IP lookup services.

Lets end the cloud oligopoly today and support revolutionary solutions such as Akash.

This integration allows for dVPN to more easily access the Chinese userbase.

Currently community members can host V2Ray nodes however users will have to wait until the imminent launch of the V2Ray CLI client which will allow for direct connection to V2Ray node providers before white-label applications make the integration allowing for users to directly connection.

This payment gateway is the 4th payment gateway in the dVPN ecosystem which allows for mainstream users to purchase DVPN tokens using fiat on-ramps.
