Sentientism is: Evidence, reason and moral consideration for all sentient beings
Download Telegram
We expect animal rights publications to cover animal rights... But maybe it's an even more powerful sign of positive change when "human rights" publications start publishing more about non-human animal rights? Good to see OpenGlobalRights with their new "Justice for Animals" Up Close series:

www.openglobalrights.org/up-close/justice-for-animals/#up-close

And going back a while of course #sentientrights: https://www.openglobalrights.org/from-human-rights-to-sentient-rights-the-next-generation-of-rights-thinking/
Some worry that #Sentientism's #sentiocentric moral scope is "picking a characteristic as moral qualifier". We know how badly that can go wrong.

Does this angle help?: Our morality should consider the perspectives of all others who value their own perspectives.

We might use a similar approach when considering rights? Instead of asking "who has rights?" we could recognise every entity has rights. Of course, each entity should have rights that align with their interests. (And yes - very many entities don't have interests at all).
Quotes from our latest two ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ podcast reviews (thank you! 💚). Why not add your own wherever you listen?
"This is an essential podcast for our time offering a glimpse into the near future and an end to the catastrophic cruelty of human violence."
"Really enjoying this combination of philosophy, ethics, and what it means to be sentient. Recommend to all animal lovers, activists, and philosophers everywhere."

What kind of relationships do we want with AI & other sentient beings?
Novelist (read "The Strength of the Illusion" - out today!) and #AI researcher Jared Moore (@jaredlcm) joins me for #Sentientism Ep:167.
Full ep: https://youtu.be/LxXwZIDwwdA and on the #Sentientism podcast.
For those interested in potential AI sentience. And yes, non-human animals get more than a mention too: https://youtu.be/-YC-ZhdcVck. If we care at all about potentially sentient AIs of course we must care deeply about animals we know are sentient - and that already exist.
Such a pleasure to talk to Princeton University psychologist Tania Lombrozo 🤩 for #Sentientism Episode 168 on YouTube and Podcast.
"Our beliefs are playing all sorts of roles... social, moral, epistemic…" If we can express our values & identities in other ways could that free our beliefs to focus on the facts?

Open Global Rights is doing great work to take rights and justice beyond the human - often focusing on sentient beings 💚
Two powerful examples here from Colombian Senator Andrea Padilla and previous Sentientism podcast guest (ep:26) Jeff Sebo.
We can sometimes feel like we're preaching to the choir. But this is a very "human rights" audience - now engaging with radical sentiocentric ideas.

Pressure is growing on the United Nations to take sentient non-human animals seriously in the #SDGs. Whether adding an #SDG18 or upgrading them all to #SentientistDevelopmentGoals - something radical is needed.
