I was glad to welcome @netanyahu to the Capitol today to discuss the partnership with our strongest ally in the Middle East, Israel. We will continue to do all we can to support the people of Israel.
It was a pleasure to address @SecureSafeUSA today on the future of Syria. The Assad family perpetuated industrial-scale atrocities against the Syrian people. But now, by the grace of God, they’re gone. There’s no doubt that Caesar sanctions played a role in the regime’s collapse and the hollowing out of his armies. My number one priority is ensuring chaos in Syria doesn’t become a terror threat to the United States, and I believe President Trump would be aligned with me on the need to protect Americans.
Last week the Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing on China's malign influence in the U.S. We heard from experts who outlined the enormous scope and scale of Chinese efforts to target U.S. and allied, academic and research institutions. In the last 5 years alone, U.S. researchers co-authored nearly 10,000 articles with Chinese military institutions. That is outrageous and we need new laws to prevent this from happening.
President Trump’s Executive Order to sanction the @IntlCrimCourt is tremendous news. The ICC’s arrest warrants were obviously politically motivated and a clear violation of Israeli sovereignty. This flagrant antisemitism and lack of respect for the rule of law in Israel cannot go unchecked. With this Executive Order, President Trump has made clear to the ICC that any violation of America’s sovereignty or that of our allies will have consequences. I look forward to working with the President and his administration to continue stamping out corruption and antisemitism across international organizations. foreign.senate.gov/press/rep/rele…
Let me make one thing very clear: America does not recognize China’s claim over Taiwan. Once again, the Chinese government has attempted to trick the world and subvert the United Nations for its own purposes – but we see these malign tactics and stand in support of our friends in Taiwan. foreign.senate.gov/press/rep/rele…
The Chinese military’s dangerous & destabilizing actions in the South China Sea and East China Sea over the last 10 days are unacceptable. This is a pattern of behavior intended to harass and coerce other countries to accept China’s baseless territorial claims. Australia, Japan, and the Philippines are right to stand up against this aggression, we can't continue to allow China to get away with this type of behavior. ft.com/content/07b8f7…
Last year, I led efforts in Congress to recognize RSF-led atrocities in Sudan, which have contributed to over 150k deaths, as genocide. In January, it became U.S. policy. Now, #Kenya, a U.S. ally, is helping the RSF legitimize their genocidal rule in #Sudan under the guise of peacemaking—this is an unthinkable attempt to obscure the truth and will not end the massacre.
Hamas’ cruelty never ends. Even as we mourn the murder of two children in captivity, their mother’s whereabouts remain unknown in clear violation of the ceasefire agreement. Hamas’ barbaric terrorism is exactly why they deserve no place in this world.
Reports that Thailand may imminently send 48 Uyghur men back to China are deeply troubling, as these men face torture, imprisonment, and even death upon return. The U.S. has put practical options on the table to resolve this issue in a way that upholds our shared commitment to internationally-recognized human rights. We urge Thai leaders to engage with the U.S. on those proposals, rather than take this ill-advised step. foreign.senate.gov/press/rep/rele…
President Trump’s repeal of the Biden Administration’s NSM-20 is excellent news. The Biden policy was ultimately nothing more than a virtue signal to the progressive left in an effort to influence domestic election politics--it was conceived of as a means to embarrass our ally Israel in its time of need. In practice, it drove a wedge between the United States and our partners, and opened the door to Russia and China. Anyone who is lamenting the ending of this policy today is shamefully cheering for this empty political gesture that ultimately made the United States and its allies less safe. America is back. foreign.senate.gov/press/rep/rele…
American Israeli Edan Alexander still remains in Hamas captivity, along with the remains of several other Americans who were murdered at the hands of barbarians. President Trump, and Congress, have and will continue to do everything in our power to return him safely to his loved ones. Hamas is a vicious and evil organization that should be wiped from the face of the earth for their atrocities.
I welcome leaders of @AIPAC who I know will have another productive summit this year as they work to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship.
The Chinese government has effectively ended Hong Kong’s autonomy. Once a thriving hub for international business, Hong Kong is now a seat of authoritarian oppression: the rule of law is disregarded, free speech is silenced, and dissent is met with persecution. This is most starkly demonstrated in the imprisonment of media entrepreneur and pro-democracy advocate Jimmy Lai. The collapse of Hong Kong’s legal and political freedoms has also created a risk-filled environment for businesses. I urge all American companies to reconsider their business presence in Hong Kong and join me in demanding the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners. foreign.senate.gov/press/rep/rele…
President Trump and his administration continues its maximum pressure campaign against Iran – this is what real action looks like. My legislation to work with regional partners to counter Iranian drones would amplify this effort – Democrats should stop blocking it. home.treasury.gov/news/press-rel…
America’s counterterrorism partners in Syria, the Kurdish SDF, have reached an agreement to integrate with the Syrian interim authorities. The SDF broke the Islamic State and has been a valuable partner to the U.S. We must ensure this integration doesn’t take our eyes off the Islamic State and the prisons in northeast Syria – both are very real threats to Americans and the homeland.

Today, the committee heard from three of President Trump’s nominees to be ambassadors to Canada, Japan, and Mexico. I was glad to hear about their plans to improve our important bilateral relationships with these countries as we all work to make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous. foreign.senate.gov/press/rep/rele…
